Crazy Bomb Toting Christian Fundamentalist vs Baby Killers

Now that I have your attention, surprisingly through all the posts I have been reading and responding to over the past 4 or so weeks about abortion I realized that people keep clumping "the other side" into stereotypes. Either the "crazy bomb toting Christian fundamentalist" or "baby killers". They may not have said it in such blunt terms but it was definately what they all were implying. This blog is about stereotyping and not a debate about abortion views, just to make that clear.

How is stereotyping people helping things? Yes, on each side there are the extremists. But the majority of the people fall somewhere in the middle.

I know that I for one have gotten sick of being called some crazy bomb toting Christian fundamentalist JUST BECAUSE I am a Christian and I am pro-life. Just because of those two facts it doesn't mean that I'm going to go to a woman's health clinic and cause problems, I never would! I am sick of being lumping into that stereotype because that is as far away from me as you can get.

I bet there are people out there who have expressed their pro-choice views on here and have felt attacked and lumped into the category of baby killers, when that is likely very far from the truth for them also.

What I hope you got from this is that stereotyping people, for whatever the reason, is a slippery path and you set yourself up to look ignorant. I used the example I used because it's a hot topic on here and it is an example I have gone through. Please, everyone share your thoughts and views about stereotyping and how it's effected you.

I don't HATE anyone, and never said so in my blog. What gave you that idea that I hated anyone, nevermind "all people" as you stated in your post? I was talking about how stereotyping people is wrong and how we shouldn't stereotype anyone, how bad is that? Did you actually read my post?

I NEVER said I hated ANYONE, in fact I was encouraging people to do the OPPOSITE. I was encouraging people to now stereotype people based on their beliefs, faith ect... because they might not be like the radical people that you see on TV, most people fall in the middle not at the extremes.

BTW, this is also the trauma surgeon you complimented in another thread.
