How should children be taught? By their parents only, or by educators, or some combination? What is the best way? This is a good question to ask.
I notice everyday arround the world that someone is always spouting off some new advice. I see how Zero tolerance has gotten out of hands. Kids are suspended for things that in a generation before would have been ignored. I remember someone giving out a toy gun as part of a christmas gift exchange but in today's scared society that same act would have resulted in suspension and a black mark on permanent record.
You can not even have a plastic knife to cut up chicken. It is part of the rule. People get suspended for flying certain flags. SOme kids are punished because they eat food that someone was allergic to as if it was a crime. It is unreal.
Parents had a small child removed from them in Europe because the child was overweight. Parents who are divorced are fighting over this and that including smoking and food as well as other matters just to be spiteful. You have to get real.
Politically correctness has gotten in the way of education. Children are taught things that are contradictory to things or believed in by the parents.
Some parents home school their children. Some states have even put up roadblocks on that. Parents see their kids being tainted by people pushing this and that on their kids and no opportunity to opt out of these assemblies or classes without retribution. It is unreal. How can parents be parents if they are afraid? How can teachers be teachers if they can not control the class?
What about these cell phone cameras? You see people causing teachers and others to be in embarassing videos. You can tell its staged event. Something has to be done but not at the expense of regular people. Parents are in the same boat of teachers because of cameras and other threats that weaken their ability to discipline. What can we do?

Parents that teach are educators. most all parents teach their children and so are educators... as for public school, God help us all. I think the private schools wont be to far behind.

We can talk to our kids, take parenting responsibly and seriously, and spank our kids when they need it.

Political correctness is fine in areas where it's deserved, like racism or homophobia; things like that. But being punished because you're eating something somebody could be allergic to? GET SERIOUS PEOPLE.

But the cell phone camera thing? I think that's a great thing. Teachers aren't now all of a sudden doing crazy things, teachers have been acting up forever. They are human. Doesn't mean that if they're throwing a kid against lockers or something they shouldn't be fired.

The same amount of teachers still go out-of-line today as they did before the invention of cell phones; the only thing different is that now kids can whip out their phone, videotape the whole thing, and turn them in with evidence in hand. Because even though school kids might be reporting something that's actually going on and needs to be stopped, nobody listens to kids. Now they have to listen, and I like it.

Problem is that students are using technology to advantage. Teachers are being set up. SOme of the recent ones only shows it after a certain one and it makes them look guilty. You look at some of the video shots of the news. You start filming at certain point and it puts a whole new spin on it. You think that is fair. Also, in my day they didnt close school because of mold in the builting but they do now. You can not wear coats or jackets in building. What if the classroom is cold. Kicking a kid out of school because of what they wear. Maybe they should allow parents to bring them new clothes.
Kids or teachers can not have bibles out and about. You cant sing certain songs. It gets wierd.

For instance Kids are forced to go through the what may be termed indoctrination such as forced to attend any assemblies or show on certain days their own point of view. Kids are not allowed to opt out of these assemblies. They are forced to only do whats part of etc not what maybe their beliefs. Its okay on those special weeks set asside for gays/lesbians but they arent allowed to show their heterosexual pride.
How about the kids who get punished for winnie the pooh socks.
