Organ donor

Personally I feel that being an organ donor is a good thing and hope to get that sticker on my license in the future. If something were to happen to me in a car accident or any other accident I would want my useable organs to be given to someone who really needed them. I mean It's not like I would need them anymore anyway, I wouldn't be alive.

I believe it is a good idea to be an organ donor because it means that you have the possibility of helping another human being to live a normal life. But there is a theory out there that if you are in an accident and are sent to a hospital as an organ donor they would rather have you die than save your life so they could use your organs. My step-mom use to be a nurse and I asked her about this and she said that is not true. So there is no need to worry about this false rumor.

So basically my message is to become an organ donor. That way you can help others when you are no longer able to live yourself. Being an organ donor even means that you could save someone's life. That sounds good to me. How about you?

I wasn't even aware of this rumour in the first place. I've heard of it happening in England through one of my friends, but I never bothered to check up to see if was a true tale.

If you want to be an organ donor you need to let your family know. Many times it can go unnoticed on your drivers license.

Your next of kin may have a difficult time letting you go, and by the time they embrace the idea that you really aren't going to survive, it may be too late to use the organs.

This happened when my brother died. He was in an accident and was being kept alive by machines. The doctors were basically keeping him alive for organ donation. He had no brain activity and he was bleeding out every liter of blood they gave him, but my parents couldn't give the go ahead to stop giving him blood for a full 14 hours. By then his organs were no longer viable. My parents knew full well that he was an organ donor and that he felt strongly about it, but they felt they had to give him every chance, even if it was less than 1%.

Be clear with your family. Be forceful about it, even.
