Murder the new road to fame. Only in America

Tagged:  •    •    •    •

It has almost become, if not already become, a regular part of who we are; for some lunatic who is about to kill himself to go into a densely populated place and kill a number of innocent people before killing himself. The most recent being the killing of 8 in Omaha by a troubled 19-year old. He said he wanted to be famous and you can trust the American media; they put up his picture and gave him his last wish, just like they did for the Virginia Tech wako.

If there a place where the media has to apply restraint, if there is a time where capitalism has to give way for common sense, it is during times like this. But no, no way, it isn't about the lives that are being lost, it isn't about making other potential killers aware that they would not be made famous, it is about the numbers of viewers and the cable ratings. Redacted for example isn't about anti-war sentiments or even anti-Bush sentiments, it is about some stupid billionaire ridding the anti-war, anti-Bush wave to make some money. Why should hollywood provide materials for anti- america propaganda.

I once heard that more Hollywood stars have visited Cuba's President, America's sworn enemy, Fidel Alejandro Castro than have visited our troops in Afghanistan. I'm saddened by this bitter truth and the fact that it would continue until somebody with a heart takes over one those big name stations and studios and sets the standard.

I wish we could go back to those good ol' days when a good name was better than silver or gold.

One, Castro-a real threat, hardly. The only reason we haven't moved past the Castro hating 60's is b/c of the Florida electoral votes. Cuban americans won't vote for a president/congressman/senator who supports talking to Cuba. Actors aren't held by the same ridiculous standards. Cuba isn't a threat and we are not talking to them b/c of politics. As for why actors go to cuba instead of Iraq...proximity maybe. Cuba is about a 90 min flight, Iraq is longer. More actors also went to mexico...which pose about the same dangers and travel restrictions as cuba does than Iraq...should we punish them for that?

Dude, i didn't say actors go to Cuba, i said they go to visit Cuba's President. And America's bad relationship with Castro dates back to the cold war. In case you didn't know he has been having some health issues. I also didn't say Iraq, i said Afghanistan. They are not the same place, and getting there doesn't cost them anything but a few hours on air drinking coffee.

No actually our bad relations with cuba started in 1961 when the US supported a coup of castro. To say the cold war encompasses half a century...not really specific. He's an old guy who will die soon and we treat him like a god amongest men(maybe a devil amongest men) Anyways nothing I said implied that actors only visited cuba for the scenery, I thought anyone who read the blog and my comment would assume I was talking about visiting castro. And doesn't it cost them you know...money...and that potential of you know...being killed. How many Cubans have run into buildings to kill americans, compared to afghans/iraqis?

"it cost them you know...money...and that potential of you know...being killed."
What are you talking about? How many high profile US guests have lost their lives in any war zone? Tell me? And how much do you think it costs to go to Iraq? I live in LA and if you know how these stars spend on silly things you won't be talking the way you are.
"How many Cubans have run into buildings to kill americans, compared to afghans/iraqis?" Let me ask you this, how many US troops are ignoring the politics and doing what they think is best, even though may not agree with the tactics, to protect this country so that they can produce their anti-military films and make all their filthy money?

How many US troops are allies with someone who would let Russia station anti-US missiles on it's soil. I'm sorry for not asking you these prior: Are you in the U.S? Do you have any family member in this country or it's military? I needed to ask you because you have gone from calling terrorists very intelligent to claiming hollywood stars can't afford to travel to Iraq. If you answered any of the two questions above which i doubt you will, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Born in LA, raised in norcal, spent my summer's jumping around the planet. My best friends are in all different branches of the military, my cousins in the navy, grandfather was a marine, and I was going to join the army before I tore my knee to shreds in football. I’ve buried 19 year olds who I grew up with so please, don't talk to me about being patriotic.

I didn't say actors couldn't afford it, I said it cost them money, you said it cost them nothing but a plane flight and a sip of coffee.

How many high-profile deaths have there been in Iraq/Afghanistan...about 4,000 most of them with a flag patched on their shoulder. If you had the choice, why would you go to a place where the majority of people don't want you there? And some, will kill you just for being American.

And another thing, why do we hold actors to a higher moral standards, why are they better and more responsible than other Americans? Most are narcissist, attention wanting pigs. So why do you expect them not to do things that further prove their superiority, like going and visiting a leader where they will be worshipped. If you asked Americans would you like to be god for a day, 9 out of 10 would say yes, well actors are the really good looking ones who get treated like god…don’t expect much from them.

Nothing is True, Everything is Permitted

You didn't say "actors couldn't afford it", so what was your point of saying "And doesn't it cost them you know...money...and that potential of you know...being killed."

I didn't say "how many high profile deaths", i said how many "high profiled guests" have been killed. Guests means visitor not soldier, i know how many military people have died, i check it almost every single day.

I'm not asking the actors to visit the Iraqis, i'm asking them to visit the troops. The soldiers. I ask them not to visit Fidel Castro, who has been dictator more often than they do our troops.

Why are actors not allowed to visit Castro but should visit troops. B/c we idolize them and we want them to feel the way we do? They are people, most aren't that great of people and are obsessed with money. Why do you expect them to lead the way in a political and moral agenda. You can hope they would, but your hopes will be crushed.

I would count guest as anyone in a country that is not their own. Since we are a guest in their country I would assume that if they demanded us out we would leave...the same way America can tell any diplomat to leave at any time(obviously there are no active foreign soliders here but the customs would carry over from political to military courtesy.)

Let me re-phrase. Actors can afford to travel to Iraq and Afghanistan and back a hundred times. But why do you expect them to do so just b/c they can?

"I wish we could go back to those good ol' days when a good name was better than silver or gold." - I'm not sure if back then was any different compared to now. But it would be nice if I can see some actors get involved with politics. I know entertainment and politics might not go well together...at least, it might inspire others to get involved as well. Most people I've encountered in college HATE politics. Yet, they fail to realize that just about everything around them deals directly with politics. At the same time, not everyone is kind-hearted like you. Many wouldn't give up any of their time to do something good for the community or for their country unless a lot of people are doing it OR it's something that they MUST do.

You are right...only in America would murder leave to fame in our mixed up media. Whatever is going to make a good story and give them better ratings...it's pretty sick.
