Death Penatly or Not?

so the case that has been all over the news lately has been wether or not to put the guy on a death penatly for being the worst child rapist ever. Does anybody understand and agree with all the people that have been put to death. Is it really a cruel and unuasual punishment. The court has ruled that it is not but what are your opinions on the whole thing. Another question and this was brought up in my history class. Do think that if someone kills a cop that they should be given the death penalty? They are shooting someone that is there to protects us. If they should not get the death penalty than why not. Why should someone that has raped a child get it? lf they have not killed the child why should they be made to give up their life. Yes the child might have mental issues or be scared by life, but do you want the guy who did it to have the easy way out and just kill them? I personally would want them put in jail so they would have plenty of time to think about what they did, they should get the right to live the rest of their life wether it be in jail or if for some reason they got back out into the world. Why is it that when someone dies they always want to kill the person who did the killing? Is that the only thing that you can do to get revenge on someone if that is even what you are going for? Going back to being cruel and unusual, i dont understand that either because they are hooked up to and IV. first they are put to sleep, then they are paralyzed, and then they are given something that stops their heart so how would they even be able to feel what was going on? I dont know it is a lot to think about and i dont really know where i stand so i figured i would see what you could come up with.
