I noticed that every time someone mentions something (good or bad), God, or religion, always has to be brought into the picture. It's as if the most religious people believe that anyone who doesn't have the same beliefs they do doesn't have the ability to change the world.
It took me a long time to make the decision not to believe in God. I was an Agnostic for the longest time, but then I realized that I just could never be one of those people who relies on someone who may or may not exist for everything. Everything. If something good happens, God did it (even if it was obviously the work of a person). If something bad happens, well that's only because God gave us free will. Does anyone else find fault in that doctrine? But, this is a whole other story that I might tell in a different blog.
Honestly, I would have no trouble accepting the most religious people if they would only accept me first. If we could all work together, we could change the world. There's really no need to create organizations with religious affiliations because we should all be working towards the same cause. If your God really does exist, he would want you to be a good, accepting person, and he would know you believed in him whether or not you tried to force others to believe in him. (Sorry, I can't bring myself to capitalize those pronouns.) I'm not asking you to stop believing in God or even reconsider your beliefs at all. I'm only asking that you realize, or at least accept the possibility, that there are some miracles that God didn't create, that there are some truths that God won't tell you, that there is more to life and this world than God. If you are not living in a box reading the Bible (which I would have to assume you aren't), then you must enjoy something more than religion. Let yourself enjoy that. PLEASE.

I completely agree with you. I went to church for years and every week I found myself rolling my eyes or shaking my head at some completely ridiculous statement. God made this woman walk again..or it could have been the 5 years of therapy she went through! A tornado hits a town..They must have done something against god. It's a crazy way to think. I find nothin wrong with having a religion, although I do not. but you are very right..these are supposed to be good christian people..so why do they look down on everyone who doesn't think the same way as them? I have religious friends and I never put down what they believe..and they know to never try to preach to me. It's their thing..not mine. It's a like a stoner trying to make someone else get high..its the exact same thing.
Yeah, I totally agree. I mean, drug pushers and missionaries, not much of a difference that I can see.
My family have shunned me for not getting married to my high school sweetheart. They said that because I was having sex with him and lived with him that I would go to Hell. There was only one way to cure me and that was to go to church and repent... Ugh I got so sick of it that I told them something so horrible... at least they thought that it was horrible. Anyway I hate that they have to force things like that because it is not in their will to judge for God. God can handle it right? His is everywhere with everyone...
Exactly, and if God does exist, and does want his followers to act like that, then I actually think God is more evil, I would go to hell for my beliefs, and it's a shame that he's the one who created the world.
im sorry that you had such a bad circumstance with religious people. the fact it though, that not all people are like that and it makes me sick to see people like that push others away because of their beliefs. it actually kinda insults me that some people think that all of us are like that. i am ashamed that some people would do that, but it hurts to think that the people who do are changing opinions. not all people are like that, heck, im not like that and im religious. not all religious people are like that. and i also agree with the part in the blog about believers needing to accept people and be kind. we are supposed to be like that. some of us are, and some of us arent, and im sorry you had to deal with the latter.
I kinda don't want to be put into a category...You see I am a Christian, and I will be the first to tell you that we are not all the same. Yes there are the "christians" who yell, scream, accuse, and judge everyone that does not claim the same. I'm not trying to be a flake kake, i'm trying to be real. And a real person accepts people for who they are. I see where you are coming from, and I have a lot of friends that are in the same boat. But just understand, your bad experience(s) may not be what "religion" as a whole is. I for one don't judge you, and there are a million more out there just like me that don't either. peace

Well, I already addressed that. I'm saying, I wish more people would accept people outside their own beliefs. I just think it's a bit annoying when people have to have a religious excuse for everything.
exactly. especially when people say "that's very UNCHRISTIAN like of you"
