Throughout history, racism has been a major issue. In today's society, it still is an issue. There are many elderly people who were brought up to be racist, and they raised their children the same way. Many people like to believe that white people are racist against black people. Yes, it is true that there are many white people who are indeed racist. But it is not right nor fair to say that every single white person is racist. And just to fill every one in, black people and white people are not the only ones who exist, who are capable of being racist....
I am not a racist person. I have friends that are white, black, Asian, European, Hawaiian, etc. I am the type of person that is not able to hate someone, and if I do hate someone, then must have done something really awful to me. I try to be friends with everyone. However, there is one boy who I can honestly say that I absolutely HATE! Now, keep in mind that I am not racist. This boy is black. The fact that he is black doesn't really matter to me. I don't hate him for the color of his skin. I hate him because he is rude, arrogant, obnoxious, violent, and a total jerk. This boy will start yelling at you for the most retarded crap, and will get within two inches of your face and start screaming. Then, he will start shoving you. I know this from experience. If you try to go to any authorities about him, he will deny it and play the "racist" card. He has played his little "racism" game to get a white teacher fired, to get many people suspended (all white), and the list goes on.
Everyday at lunch, my friends and I have many various conversations, but we end up talking about racism a lot. In one of our conversations, one of my friends said something that I completely agree with....she said "I am not a racist person, but the ones who keep racism alive are the black people who want to accuse white people of being racist." I don't care what color you are. If you are respectful, trustworthy, hard-working....chances are we'll get along just fine. But when someone calls me racist just because I don't like them (when the real reason I don't like them is because of their attidude), frankly that pisses me off.
I understand that black people had to work very hard to escape slavery, and to gain their rights, but guess what......that is all in the past now!!! Why should I feel sorry for a 19 year old black female who says "Oh, black people had to go through so much. You should give me money, blah blah blah" when I personally had nothing to do with that, and she has never been affected by it becuase it happened 60 years before she even existed?
I love being able to learn about different cultures, but why aren't there any white history holidays or scholarships for being white? There is black history month, holidays for Asians, holidays for Canadians, holidays for hispanics, but why aren't there holidays for white people. We've accomplished a lot as well. And why is so difficult to find scholarships if you are a white female, but if you are black, latin, Indian, hispanic or Asian, there's no problem there? And why isn't there White Entertainment Television?
Its just ridiculous. If we say something, we get accused of being racist, but if a black person says a racial slur to a white person nothing happens. Could it possibly be because we white people don't care if other races hate us for our skin color? Could it possibly be because we're above that? Why can't we just all be a part of one race...the human race. Because in case you hadn't noticed, we're all human. Why should our skin colors be a problem? Its really ridiculous.
