College costs are rising, and one has to "Squeeze every penny" And so here are some tips on how to save more than $300 worth of books
Now before you read, keep in mind EVERY LAST PENNY and DOLLAR counts! Don't say "Eh..I only save one buck" It all adds up in the end, so here are the tips
IF you have a book Boucher from the school they pay for your books...
1). Do NOT buy "New" books unless there are no used ones left. BUY USED! You save!
IF you are paying out of your pocket, think before you buy!
1)Before you buy anything from the school bookstore, think! Find out the prices and compare. Look for another book store that sells these books that is off campus (We have one right across the street) SOMETIMES, the bookstore may have the same new book for at least $5 off.
2). Buy from someone else! People place adds on the wall, they often just want to get rid of the book, you may get it for 1/3 of the price that was posted on the original price.
And of course, the most IMPORTAND THING:
When your class ends, SELL the book you used right away! Do not wait for a semester to pass, because the teacher may order new books, and no one will want yours.
---------------------
THE RESULT: Here is an example, Typicaly, you take 20 classes to get your AA. That makes 20 books, if you save $20 by buying used book instead of a new one, you will save: $400
If you re-sell your book for at least $40 each, you make $800
And so here is an example of how much I save on 2 books:
Environment Book:
College Book Store-> New: $110 Used: $83.32 Other Book Store-> Used: $79.45 Posted Price from Student: $60
Hed 100
College Book Store-> New: $68.60 Used: $51.52 Other Book Store-> Used: $49.45
Soo...if you try, you will save. Saving $5 may not seem like a lot, but after 19 more books, you will save$100
So those are some tips, don't forget, buy for cheap, and then resell

My mom is currently enrolled in college. She usually goes to the school bookstore to write down the information of whichever book she needs. Then she buys it either at ebay.com or half.com. She gets the books so much cheaper than if she had to buy them full price from her school. Then, if she can't find them on ebay she'll buy the used school's books. It saves a lot of money.
Good thing that she is so smart. I should try ebay and half.com too, havn't though of those. Thanks
Everyone knows to buy used books. If they dont I would say they are pretty clueless. Everyone I know buys theirs used.
True some may know, some just buy from the school, and not from kids that sell it for perhaps half
I think a lot of college freshmen don't realize that they can buy used books. And many people don't realize they can get them off of sties like www.half.com and www.ebay.com
I did not know either. But sadly, they do not carry the books I need. Thanks for the link though!
great thanks
So far, I have never spent more than $500 a semester on books each semester, while spring semesters are much less. Buying used books online is a great bargain.
You are lucky! Or maybe you take a few classes. I take like four, and the supplies cost a lot
Maybe lucky. Certain courses, like Physics and Chemistry, are one year long. I have many classes. Yet some professors sympathize and sometimes recommend, not require, certain books. Also, they or the students come up with cheaper alternatives. For instance, instead of buying expensive lab books, the experiments to be done can be photocopied.
People can buy used textbooks at textbookx.com
There is another site where you can sell you books to and get money for them webuytextbooks.com
I have used both and I am completely satisified!
I buy most of my textbooks and then sell them on Amazon. I have had too many problems with half.com. It's super easy! You just need the ISBN. I have had no problems selling my books back either.
Keep in mind, though, some teachers are picky and require new books, for reasons that they justify themselves.
