50 cent's going to quit his solo career if Kanye West outsells him....oh my gosh.....that's amazing.......that's top quality news for ya. But somehow it's got my entire school and the rest of the united states buzzing. Doesn't anyone see that this is just a mutually beneficial marketing ploy?
It's like those furniture stores who have the "Final Markdown, Out of Business Closeout, Prices you'll never see again!" Sales. The flashy commercial and radio ads run for a month, the place "closes" and then next thing ya know, the store is open again.....having the same sale!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even if they're "rivals," or whatever, they both benefit from this idea. Both can sell even more by creating a buying war between fans. And even if Kanye wins....does anyone really think that 50 will stop? Even if he quits a "solo" career he can capatalize on his celebrity status in other product lines and other bands featuring "50 cent." And as one of my friends pointed out, wouldn't he still be able to have a solo career under his legal birth name?
Now, this isn't to nit-pick at either individual, or say that their music is bad, or anything. It's just frustrating that this gets sooooo much attention when there are other issues at hand that should be put ahead of this in the media.
The bottom line is that they're rolling in dough ($$$$$$$) while there are wars, poverty, sickness, and starvation still in the world.
Maybe they should have a telethon when selling the C.D., give a portion of the profits to a charity, and see who can raise more then.
Just an idea. But what's your take on this subject? Keep Writing!

but i personally want to hear what kanye has to say in his songs

Of course its a marketing thing...but there is a lot of sense in trying to get 50 Cent to stop rapping. His lyrics are demeaning and an outright disgrace to african-americans everywhere. Honestly, I was going to buy Kanye's CD anyway, just because he is a GREAT artist but the war gave me a better reason to buy it.
But about them "rolling in dough" or whatever, Kanye definitely is an activist. So its not like he doesnt devote time energy AND music to making the world better. Kanye has also been known to give quite a bit back to the community.
That's great. I really don't know anything about the artists themselves, since I don't listen to their type of music. If I made any mistep in describing their character, it is only because of my ignorance. I have to agree with your statement about demeaning lyrics, though.
just so i dont have to hear anymore horrible 50 "songs"......... real hip-hop will prevail!!!!!! I HOPE, Brenda Cherie
its just a stupid childish game, they are actually okay with each other and yeah, i don't listen to 50 except for maybe the collab with the game
---regardless of what even comes out of their mouth, don't beleive artists or their reps---now come on Jay z has retired a billion times by now

They dont have to hate each other to compete. You could run against ur best friend in a race...im sure people would take sides.
Funny how blogs with those names in the title get an insane amount of reads in matter of a day or two...it speaks volumes about what our priorities are as a society.
