Waiter...there's some lead in my soup!

"…why yes sir. And no extra charge!" Is this really America’s future? Who can really say? Anything could happen unless some sort of action transpires between the House, Senate, and our dear leader. Perhaps our next political savior will pull the U.S. out of this mess. Then again, do we really want to pay CEO’s less? Is it even fathomable that some of our top industrial and textile tycoons could survive with one less yacht? The thought of it sends chills right down my spine. We all hear about toys and other small objects being recalled because of lead content every so often. Some of you might laugh and think that it’s terribly amusing for a two year old to be hospitalized by a doll. I pass on to you this wisdom; you won’t be laughing so hard when your biweekly flossing practices present you with a lead poisoning diagnosis.

Take a moment to look around you. Look at the desk in front of you. Chances are you’re not going to see anything besides a few pencils manufactured domestically. How about the very computer you’re on. Think it’s made in the U.S. or Japan? Think again. Almost every part inside is made in China. I went on a safari into the depths of my own CPU and what did I find. The very heart and soul of it, the processor, was labeled with the all too common phrase, "made in China." The madness doesn’t end there folks. The chair you sit on day after day. The DVD you gingerly handle. The house phone you awake to in the middle of the night from computerized telemarketing machines soliciting your tranquil lives! I pose the following question to you with the utmost sincerity. How safe are we, as a nation, when practically every piece tangible matter we lay our hands on, comes from the same place that obliviously creates toys coated with toxic substances to be sold on U.S. soil? As long as we depend so heavily on China for our own economic growth and fragile stability, we aren’t safe. Checking every single product made from China isn’t something that can be done nor will it be in the future. Every hour of every day, hundreds upon thousands of tons of Chinese made material pulse through our ports, eventually onto the shelves. It could be only a matter of time before an article in the New York Times reads, " Prague Vacation Barbie recalled by manufacturer. Hazardous levels of lead concentrate found in eyelashes a danger minors."

By no means can everything be made in our country. I like to make use of the old phrase, "don’t put all your eggs in one basket." Over the years, our government has done just this and in turn, caused us to lose power and stability among global community. Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t our country once fight for it’s independence. Did we not take action when a world power had control over our economy among other things. My god I can only imagine what our political forefathers would say if they could see the mess we’re in. China tries to influence U.S. domestic and foreign policy with political and economic threats. What will happen if production ceases or ports are blockaded by Chinese military force. Our economy will go the way of a really greasy fast-food burger. It’s will to slip, slide and fall apart before our eyes. This nation does not want to be that greasy burger. The people want a strong country with an efficient government that can admit when the economy is unstable and do something logical about it. It is up to our government to break the United States out of its shackles of debt and rise above and beyond anything it’s ever been before.

How many children have actually died or suffered permanent injuries as a result of lead in toys?

No deaths or suffering of children has been linked to the recent events and recalled products and I do no believe I stated such things in my blog. This is a hypothtical piece of writing.

"We all hear about toys and other small objects being recalled because of lead content every so often."

So are you saying that no one has ever been injured or killed as a result of the lead content in those toys and so forth?

My research has had me come across one death this morning. This however, as they they, is a rare and unusual occurrence. It did however spark a recall of some metal children's jewelry. Generaly though, I have not seen any reports of injuries.

If you come across any more deaths or injuries pertaining to this matter which I don't in the future, pleasev feek free to mention them.
