You know how they say college is suppose to be the highlight years of your life where you meet friends, experience new things, and just have fun until you graduate? I say that whoever said all that lied. For me college is not all what people make it seem to be. I'm not saying that i'm not experiencing new things and meeting new people but for me i have been stressing all semester. I'm not stressing over homework or test because i have been blessed with natural smarts so as long as i atleast look over something i get it. But i'm stressing over finances. What i want to do with my life. The important things like that. The other day my mother called my phone and left a message saying she's proud of me for going to college to better myself. That i want end up like her working hard to keep the lights on and pay the bills. To me that made me cry(i'm crying right now too). I mean here i am in college and i have no idea what i wanna be and even if i did know i don't have no way to pay for it. I know there's loans out there but i don't want a loan. I have a loan now and its under my uncle name. I don't want to go to him again asking can i get a loan under his name. I wish i didn't have to worry about this but i do. I want to make something out of myself and i don't have the money to do. How can you really enjoy the college life when your every thought is about your problems? If someone know please tell me. At first i didn't understand why so many smart people drop out of school but now i do. Its not about the grades or not making friends its all about the finances.

With college comes a lot of expenses. Expenses that not every parent can afford. Thank God for financial aid, scholarships, and grants. I too am having difficulty paying for school, I'm always in need of help from my parents. They don't mind, but I just wish I could do it on my own. But I always reassure them that I will make them proud, and repay them in the long run. Just be optimistic, and try to make your college years a lot more enjoyable. Best of luck to you!
I am going through the same thing. Right now, I'm trying my best to find at least a job that can help my father pays for the tuition. I've received a lot of grants. But my parents still need to pay like 1/4 of the whole cost. It is a good deal so I decided to go to Mount Holyoke. Whenever is there, I want to discover it. It's easier for me to tell you, "Forget about your money problems" than for you to actually do it. Meanwhile it's good that you are aware of your financial status, you also have to look for opportunities. Crying and complaining will not get you anywhere far.
I'd say try your best for scholarships. Look for jobs near your dormitory or within the college itself. I heard students get some benefits for working with the school. Do you have friends who are in the similar situation? Maybe you guys can sit down and brainstorm. Have you ever tried thinking about starting your own business? THERE ARE MANY THINGS YOU CAN DO. You need to go out there and search for it. Watch out for business clubs or anything deals with money. Live on what you have and try to make the best out of it.
Everyone of us is still unsure about the future. That's why we're going to college to find out what we would like to do. These classes aren't just expensive so the colleges can get money. What's the point of learning if you're only going to look at the textbook and forget about it by the next day. You need to absorb the information and use it in everyday life...apply it so your knowledge becomes useful. Think about those who cannot afford to go to college and end up pregnant...we are luckier than many people. Try to enjoy it, okay? Good luck. Keep your chin up.
