"Chelsea! Can you hear me? Please wake up!" cried Alex as her friend's vitals were being taken by the rescue worker.How could this happen to someone? Just a few hours ago, Chelsea and her boyfriend, Justin were completely in love and now Chelsea is all bloody and unconscious, and Justin is nowhere to be found.Let's rewind back a few hours.A young boy of about sixteen walks up to the dorr of a warm, happy-looking house,carrying a boquet of roses.He rings the doorbell and a young girl answers the door."Hey, Justin!" Chelsea squeals as she throws her arms around Justin's neck. Justin hands her the boquet and tells her to put hem in water. Five minutes later, Justin and Chelsea head out in Chelsea's car to a party.Once they arrive, Justin and Chelsea are greeted by Alex, Chelsea's best friend.One our into the party a boy comes up and asks Chelsea to dance. Justin grabs Chelsea's arm hard enough to leave a bruise and tells the boy in an aggressive voice "No she does not because she is with me." Once the boy leaves, Justin rounds on Chelsea. "Why was that boy flirting with you? Do you think i'm stupid?"In what seems like a few seconds, Justin drags Chelsea outside forcefully and punches, slaps, and kicks her while yelling at her.Everyone from the party comes out to see what is going on and just stands there in shock. After about two minutes someone finally intervenes and pulls Justin off of her.Justin then spits at the person and runs off.Alex runs up to Chelsea and realizes that she is knocked out, and her pulse is barely detectable.The boy from the party calls an ambulance and another girl gets a cold towel to put on Chelsea's head. Chelsea comes to in time to hear the sirens then passes out again.People stand around crying and screaming as the rescue workers take Chelsea's vitalsand rush her to the hospital. A few hours later at the hospital, Chelsea's parents are told that she has a concussion, three broken ribs, and that if she had gotten to the hospital later that she would have died.
I know this is a story, but this is a real example of how jealousy can turn to rage and almost cost you your life. I Know it lacks details, but I only intended to show you the end result of this situation so that you can get out when you notice the early signs of abuse and not let the abuser keep coming back.
I think the scenario may be a little far fetched with out the proper detailing...but I agree that young people need to be more aware of the reality of abusive relationships...it's something I've seen happen to friends one too many times...and the saddest part is you can't really interfere b/c unless they want to hear it they'll just put up with it and ignore you...it's really unfortunate
Now that I think about it, I agree, the scenario is far-fetched, but at the same time, maybe it could open people's eyes, because once the smallest sign of abuse presents itself, people tend to rationalize and believe that everything is all right.
