We wonder why sometimes people take extremes to escape pain. Here is a fictional story about a young High school student about to graduate. What can you learn from this?
She had always been one of those people anyone could count on. She had always been there for her friends, and even the people she did not know. She would give out advice when someone asked for it and would try to help anyone. She was a quirky individual, and she had a good personality, but she was not the prettiest person. Many people picked on her because she was overweight, but she did not let that get to her. Everday she helped those who needed or wanted it, and had fun with her friends. She did not hear the teasing and taunt that was shouted whenever she walked into a room. She truly had been a good person, and people degraded her name because she did not look like everyone else.
For the fact that she was not skinny or fit, she was outcasted by everyone except for her friends.
However, she did not ask why this was, for she knew that God had a plan for her. So instead of becoming depressed, she continued to do what she had always done. Shrug off the negative and push the positive to the top. Her father worried about her, for when she was home, she was a secluded individual. There was nothing wrong with her, however, she just wished to be alone. Her father worried that one day the teasing and taunting would become too much, and his fears were not too far off.
A week before graduating from High school, some of the other students were being excrutiatingly nasty to her. Some of the boys were pulling her hair, punching her arms or her stomach, and slapping her face. Girls would spit on her and call her names, throw pencils, food, paper wads and other things at her. The boys torn at her clothes and pushed her around, and the girls taped and took pictures of it. By the end of the day, she was beaten, bruised, bloodied and in pain. No one had done a thing to help her, not even her friends.
She questioned God why no one helped her. Why had the staff not helped her? It was there job to stop things like this from happening. Trying her best to keep her torn clothes from revealing her bruised and bloodied flesh, she made her way outside and started walking home. One of the boys jumped her on an unpopulated street, dragged her into the woods, raped and beat her. After he was finished with her, he left her for dead. With tears streaming down her face, she continued home, limping and stumbling. Not even the drivers on more populated streets bothered to help her. Why had no one helped her like she helped them? Why had she been put through this when all she did was help and give others hope?
She did not know the answer, and despaired. Was God's plan for her to be tortured? She did not want to think so, but she could no longer look on the bright side, because to her, there was none. By the next morning, everyone would know she had lost her virginity, and it would not matter that it had been rape. No one would help her as she limped from class to class, and no one would talk to her. She knew exactly what would happen if she ever faced her classmates again.
Her body ached as she stumbled home, and she prayed for the pain to stop, or at least subside so she would run herself a cold bath. The pain did not lessen, and only intensified as she made her way into her home. Desparate for the pain to go away, she looked through the kitchen cupboards for something to kill the pain. Finding asprin and sleeping pills, she down half of both full bottles, and by the time her father got home three hours later, she had died from overdose.
People kill themselves everyday because they are being tortured and mistreated by their fellow classmates. This may not be the only reason they kill themselves, but it is a huge part. What can you learn from this?

I have had classmates that have said they were going to commit suicide as well. All the kids picked on them and left them out. They never had a chance to prove themselves to anybody. That isn't fair. Everyone deserves a chance before they decide to make such awful choices towards themselves.
