Why do I care?

I am a humanist. I believe in the good in all mankind. I see evil around every day, but I try not to let that interfere with my vision. I am a white male 31 years of age. I am in the best class type to exist in this country. Why do I care if health care is in ruin? due to exorbitant pharmaceutical costs, insurance premiums, and lack of coverage. Record petroleum profits amid wartime economy? Who cares the stock market provides my portfolio the momentum I need to expedite my retirement. Gun Control? make as many as possible, the more sold the higher the earnings report, the better the stock dividend. Government regulations? That's for people on welfare right? What the top 5% of this country earned 60% of it's wealth. That's the way it's supposed to be right. What do I care of public education, the church should teach us everything, like killing in the name of the lord is ok it its for a god(good) cause. The government, yeah hell yeah they should bail mismanaged companies out. Otherwise how is my stock portfolio going to do anything for me? Drugs, we need illegal drugs to fund wars in countries I don't care to know the name of. Funding the prison system is how I see it. What our prison system is an entity traded on the stock market, of course why wouldn't it be? What I am not a prisoner. Why do you care?

Without me, you cannot make money.
Without you, my public schools will have no funding.

We all must rely on each other in order to live in an advanced society. This is why I care about others, in addition to more humanistic reasons such as love, compassion, and empathy.

But I didn't start a family when I can barely support myself. I didn't let some vulture like lender commit me to some ridiculous mortgage, that, in reality I could never afford. I did fall off a roof, and receive charity. But that's because I deserve it. What about those people who were raised with single parents that did become a statistic. They are on the streets propagating what is wrong with this country. Yes, helping my portfolio, going to jail. Robbing some body with my gun, spending your money, why should I care about them?

you commented on my post that to live is to love. if that's really how it is, then either you must hate your life because you don't have love, or you really do care about these things, because you can't love a world that you don't care about

And to lose sight of what you love is like a lost dream. Failing your goals is the biggest failure of all. We all lose sight of what is important from time to time. Mislead, can be a desperate people looking for something better than what is the current situation. I can't understand how someone can rationalize owning stock in a company that yes proves profitable, but continually devastates it's environment, our environment. There are too many of these companies. One can justify a sacrifice for the better of the people, but how can one justify some of the practices of these companies. You want a list I'll put it up. The top rated stocks usually contain about half of them if not all.
