A Thousand Splendid Suns

So since I’ve been reading a lot of blogs on this website I noticed that a lot of you talk about the inequality present between men and women. A lot of you talk about there not being enough women role models on TV, about the false representation of women in our media, and our country’s right to have a woman as president. I agree with all of these things and I enjoy reading blogs that discuss this topic. Therefore, I thought I should let any of you who might interested know about a book that I am in the middle of reading. The title is “A Thousand Splendid Suns” and it is written by Khaled Hosseini. This man is also the author of the famous book The Kite Runner, which is also an excellent read for anyone who is interested.
“A Thousand Splendid Sun” focuses on the harsh treatment of women in . It begins with a young girl who lives with her mother and who is visited by her father once a week. Her father has other wives and other children and sent her mother away because she was considered a disgrace. Although Mariam, the young girl, loves her father and can not wait for the day he comes to see her, her mother holds grudges against him and warns Mariam that she will get hurt if she doesn’t watch out. I don’t give too much away, but I am only on pg 100 and a lot has happened so far. Some parts are disturbing, but it is definitely an eye opener and brilliantly written. I would definitely suggest reading both of these books for anyone who is looking for a good read.
Out of curiosity, has anyone read either of these books yet? If you have, what did you think?
Holy crap! How many posts have you done in the last 30 seconds?! :O
Anyway, this blog seems more fit for the site. You should probably go more in depth and explain your own thoughts and feelings on the matter. That would improve the blog.
