Due process? I think not.

I know a lot of people have posred blogs on gay rights, so here's one more for everyone to either agree or disagree on.

The fourteenth amendment of the U.S. constitution says: 

"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."
(Wikipedia).

 Doesn't serving on duty to die for our country count a privilege that should be granted to everyone?  Shouldn't everyone be allowed to marry?  The fourteenth amendment thinks so, but apprently, the current government does not.

I don't understand why the government tries to push Christian ideals onto everyone.  the bible prohibits gay sex, but it also prohibits lying, shaving, touching the skin of a dead pig (AKA playing football), etc...If all those anti-gay politicians want to "save" gays from damnation, why aren't they "save" themselves?  I still see lots of people playing football, and I don't see too many people with enormous beards. 
Basically, in the politicians' mind, one of the TEN COMMANDMENTS (thou shalt not lie) can be violated (for we can all agree that most poiticians aren't the most honest people)...but one little snippet of the Bible (which has a lot of things that people just don't follow anymore) cannot.

Dear politicians, please stop trying to "save" people who don't want to be "saved".  We all don't have the same beliefs, we all don't have the same religions, some of us don't even have a religion.  Stop trying to force ultra-Christian ideals on everyone, whether it be in gay rights, abortion, or anything else. 

As I'ver read somnewhere else, many Christian sects believe that those not of their faith will go to hell.  That will be a lot of religions (and atheists as well in hell).  Also every behavior punishble buy the Bible commands hell (lying, working on Sunday, masturbation, abortion, any kind of "immorality").  Except a few mother Theresas of the world, that have been very few people that had followed the Bible exactly.  Thus, almost everyone will go to hell, if these ultra-conservatives stick to their ideals.  Can hell exist if so many people are going there?  Won't it overflow?  Won't then religion diminish since everyone will know that if they "mess up" even a little bit or if they, either through birth or interaction, violate the Bible in some way, will go to hell?

I am not Christian, but I will say the following statement for all the Christians against gays: what happened to Jesus forgiving?

I think we should stop HATE! These gays are people just like you and me! We need to stop talking about them just because of their sexual orientation! Posting blogs against them is downright disrespectful and wrong! Times are changing and more people are coming out! GET OVER IT!

Well, you sure did throw a lot of different stuff into that one. I'm not even sure how to start to respond. I guess you could say I have many of the same beliefs. I am a polisci major, so therefore I take offense to the politician refrence, LMAO, ok not really, the problem with politicians is: 1. The power tends to go to their heads (no pun intended) 2. The most common rule amoungst politicians is that of reciprocity (aka you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours)which leads to consistent issues. 3. As much as we all would like them to make a diffrence, there really is only so much they can do.
As far as the religion thing, here is something I came up with a few months ago....

I am getting into politics at some point in my journey and I was day dreaming one day about what I would say to the people if asked about religion and God and came up with this, “God is simply to big to fit into “one” religion and if I was to say I only believe in one then I would be saying that I accept the fact that I am also condemning the rest of the world to “hell” and that I will not do. I believe I would be doing a disservice to God if I narrowly believed in only a single religion, I believe in none and I believe in all.”
