to all hunters w/respect

I'm really upset with the fact that the American people have lost the ability to tell the difference between a hunter and a poacher. Everyday there are people crying out for the government to outlaw hunting, but if the government outlaws hunting then we will have excessive amounts of animals and do you know what happens when you have to much of something in a small area? Sickness occurs. Think about it, when you have a sack of potatoes still sitting in a bag and they sit there for a long period of time they not only start to mold and become soggy but their roots grow and latch on to things. Animals are the same way. If too many animals are in a given area then their habitat will start to break down and disease will begin to spread to not just the wild animals within their habitat but to the household pet.
This is not a joke! I hear people all the time fussing about how hunters are out of control and that hunting should be outlawed. Well i believe that those that conduct dishonorable hunting and only kill for the joy of it or profit (aka poachers) should be arrested and the others should be regulated. If you want to kill an animal you had better be willing to eat it. That is the philosophy that i was raised on and i, as a girl, hunt and i will be the first to tell you its fun waiting for that deer to come into your sites, it really is but what is even better is knowing that that animal will feed me tonight.
What a huge amount of people have a hard time realizing is that hunting is necessary no matter what it is necessary. For those that say well what about the ones who kill for joy!? All i have to say is arrest their rears and let them face the music. I mean not only as a hunter but as someone who is aspiring to be involved with the animal preservation and protection it is really sad that over half of America can sit down and say that the poor animals do like to be eaten or its just plain mean to shoot them.
Im not trying to get on someone's high horse but if America is not warned to stop the ones who are in the wrong and let the hunters who hunt with respect do their job then our wildlife society can finally make a safe comeback but unfortunatley that is nothing but a dream.
I'm hoping that one day we can finally bring down the hammer on those who refuse to respect the balance between man and animal instead of screwing it up. :)

It may be strange to hear this from a vegetarian, but I agree with you whole-heartedly. Though when an animal is killed, it makes me sad, I'm firmly rooted in the belief that "you kill it, you eat it." Humans are hunters by nature, and nothing will ever change that.

And people really do need to learn the difference between hunters and poachers. Poachers are just trying to get around the law, while hunters respect all existing laws and regulations.

Also, poachers endanger people. We have a lot of deer that pass through our property, and as a result, we've got poachers. They don't care that people may be out there as long as they get whatever they're hunting, and one nearly fired his rifle in my parents' direction once. It's really scary.
