I am a 1st generation American. This presidential campaign has opened up the eyes of people laid dormant politically for their entire lives. The Democrats have a lot of decisions to make. Here we have candidates who represent other aspects of American culture. Interestingly enough, now that two voiceless groups have an actual say, will we ever get to hear anything substantive? The Republicans... well who cares anyways?
I have listened to blacks and women try their best to pretend this election has nothing to do with race or gender. In all honesty and fairness, what if it does? People should embrace the fact that it is refreshing to see people who appear to be like them for a change. Just imagine the modern free world could have a leader other than a white man.
Is it particularly relevant that according to the New York Times and NPR, there are other presidents in our history that passed for white? Does it matter that these great leaders in retrospect had parents who "jumped the fence?" Does it matter at all? Is it particularly relevant that it seems as though this country is willing to atone to a half white man than a woman at all? After all, who has the next right to rule? Is it the woman or the lack man? Let's talk this over in reference to making this country great again. With that said, there really is no way to get passed painful discussion without having them.
Is America Ready?
