We are dealing with a culture that values death more than life.

That sounds cold and so vastly unlike our way of life, but it is true. Children are sent out with bombs to kill people. People drive a car full of explosives to a pizza place because that kind of pizza is 'evil' . ..

We've let them sit and live their lives that way for a long time. We are not the world's police. They, however, brought the war to our doorstep with multiple attacks over a few decades, including bombings of embassies in various countries and a bombing of the USS Cole and the attacks on the World Trade Center towers.

If we do not fight them, they will not stop until we are all dead. We faced such things before, in World War II, where the Japanese soldiers had such duty and honor to their country and emperor that they often sought death to die in service... believing that they would have great rewards for it (Sound familiar?)

We defeated them with brute force attacks and, unfortunately, the deaths of hundreds of thousands of soldiers. However, we defeated them and changed their minds and reminded them to love life more than death.

We face the same thoughts now from a new enemy... we love life so much that the death of a few thousand soldiers has alot of people wondering 'if it is worth it'

It is indeed a horrible price, but it is the way of war... War exists because sometimes the only way to fight evil is to stand up and physically fight it. Which is what we are trying to do.

"We are dealing with a culture that values death more than life."
That is just not true for the majority of the people.

"People drive a car full of explosives to a pizza place because that kind of pizza is 'evil' . .." Hmm, sounds like people bombing abortion clinics because they're 'evil'.

"We've let them sit and live their lives that way for a long time. We are not the world's police." Actually, we've been medling in the affairs of the Middle East ever since World War Two. we've got millitary bases all over the region. Israel isn't the only nation created after the war. Iraq is also a nation that was created after the war. We supported an unpopular monarch in Iran. We gave supplies to Bin Laden to fight the Soviet Union. We still support Saudi Arabia today. As for us not policing the world, well we may not be doing a good job, but we seem to be trying.
As for terror orgnizations targeting us, that's true. However, the Iraqi government did not attack us. Most of the 9/11 bombers were Saudi. I have nothing against trying to stop Al Queada, but attacking Iraq certainly hasn't helped us in that.

"We defeated them with brute force attacks and, unfortunately, the deaths of hundreds of thousands of soldiers. However, we defeated them and changed their minds and reminded them to love life more than death."
If you're reffering to Japan, we actually beat them by skipping the whole soldier thing and dropping bombs on two cities. And, we really didn't change their minds. We just stopped them from having an army. The Japanese are incredibly xenophobic and would very much like to get back in the game of world domination.

"We face the same thoughts now from a new enemy... we love life so much that the death of a few thousand soldiers has alot of people wondering 'if it is worth it'" You see, there is a big difference between Japan and an international terrorist organization. You can attack a nation. It is much harder to attack a group of people spread out across the world. If engaging these people in a traditional sence was workable, I would accept it, but it doesn't work.
What would work is fighting defensively. Tracking their acions and stopping them from attacking us. Further more, this wouldn't create as much resentment against us.
It would also help if we were willing to talk to them and find out what they really want.

"It is indeed a horrible price, but it is the way of war... War exists because sometimes the only way to fight evil is to stand up and physically fight it. Which is what we are trying to do."
War exists as a means to an end. That end is sometimes justifiable. Often, it is not.

Perfectly written! I have nothing more to say!!

It is not a culture that values life more than death. When they strap bombs to themselves and to their children do you honestly think thats what they want to do? They have been pushed to the extreme-they have no options left. They have no money, no food, and no means to fight the enemy.
They do not drive into pizza places because "that kind of pizza is 'evil' . .. " They know that that pizza place is where the enemey is, it would make the most damage. They are fighting just like the American Soldiers are, using stragety and the only weapons they have- bombs strapped to their bodies.
Please, do not judge people for their actions if you have not in person experienced what they're going through. And if you did experience what they were going through, you wouldn't dare make such comments as "People drive a car full of explosives to a pizza place because that kind of pizza is 'evil' . .. "

There's a really good movie on this topic that you might want to consider watching. I'm not sure I believe and agree with everything in the movie, but it certainly makes some good points. The movie is called "Fahrenheit 9/11." If you watch this, I would also recommend watching the movie that was made as a rebuttal to it . The rebuttal film is called "Fahrenhype 9/11." Then you can choose your stance given information and arguements from both sides.
