Another great film documentary that I got to attend and see that was awarded the following. 2007 Sundance Film Festival Nominee Grand Jury Prize; Seattle International Film Festival Audience Award For Best Documentary; Reel Pride: Fresno Gay And Lesbian Film Festival Audience Award For Best Documentary; Tampa International Gay And Lesbian Film Festival Grand Jury Prize For Best Documentary.
If you read this that then you know that this movie dealth with homosexual relationships and what the bible has to say about it.
Can the love between two people ever be an abomination? Is the chasm separating gays and lesbians and Christianity too wide to cross? Is the Bible an excuse to hate? Through the experiences of five very normal, very Christian, very American families -- including those of former House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt and Episcopalian Bishop Gene Robinson -- we discover how insightful people of faith handle the realization of having a gay child. Informed by such respected voices as Bishop Desmond Tutu, Harvard’s Peter Gomes, Orthodox Rabbi Steve Greenberg and Reverend Jimmy Creech, FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME So offers healing, clarity and understanding to anyone caught in the crosshairs of scripture and sexual identity.

Can love between two people be considered an abomination? "In the bible it says that HOMOSEXUALITY IS AN ABOMINATION" was a sentence repeated over and over and over again throughout the whole documentary. As I ponder the question my answer is No. Love between two people is not considered an abomination. But to god, love between two people of the same gender, not as extreme as THEY SHALL INSTANTLY BE PUT TO DEATH, but is considered a major sin.
But how deep into this meaning are people taking it? As those who have read the scriptures we know that the words in the scriptures hold SO much meaning and are so symbolic. We know that it can say one thing, but totally mean something so different. We know that we can read the scriptures over and over and still get something different out of the same passage. So is the phrase, "Homosexuality is an abomination" sopposed to be taken literally.
This is what the people on the documentary were trying to say. The bible says you shouldn’t wear wool with a certain kind of fabric, you will be severely punished if you work on the sabbath day, etc. It has so many biblical laws that obviously don’t apply to us today, so why can’t it be the same with homosexuality. People tried to argue saying that Homosexuality was only an abomination then because that was during the period where people were trying to procreate. So why is it such a big deal. They go on arguing that people read into things so literally! You can state what the bible says over and over, but do you really know the symbollic meanings behind it? It all depend on how you read it, and from what point of view you are taking it from. People precieve the bible different than others. You can be white and see the bible different than a black man. You can be a women and see the bible different than a man. All in all, they just said you chose what you want to believe.
I myself have never discriminated against anyone for being a homosexual nor will I ever. I couldn’t help but think to myself, WHY IS IT SUCH A BIG DEAL?!?!?! Because god said it wasn’t right.. right?!?! So who are we to tell someone that what they are doing is an abomination, its disgraceful, it’s immoral. Who are we to tell someone who they can or can’t love. Who are we to tell someone how to live their life. If it’s what god thinks, THEN LEAVE IT UP TO GOD!!!! God is the only one who has the right and is the only who will ever have the right to judge us. People who are homosexual are like everybody else. They do the same thing we do. The ONLY difference is, they love someone who is the same gender as themself, and god is the only one to judge them for that decision. Homosexuality is not a mental disorder, it’s not a disease, you are not going to get aids when you come in contact with homosexuals..
GET EDUCATED PEOPLE!
Well anyways, Im really tired, sorry if none if this makes sense. What I wanted to get across is this.
We as human beings shouldn’t look down on someone because of the moral choice they have decided to chose. We shouldn’t judge someone because of that decision. If god said it was a sin, THEN LEAVE IT TO GOD TO JUDGE US!

I compleatly agree. I think that the judjment should lie soley with god, and that the people in this country have no right to judge. We are all sinners in gods eyes, but yet they never look to each other and tell each other that. I have a question, though. What If you are a "saved" person, but you are still a homosexual? What then? And if you are a believer of the faith and go to church every sunday, but you are still a homosexual, will people still call you an abomination?
Just a thought.

People who call anyone whatever name to make one feel bad while trying to push guild upon one’s shoulders are nothing more than hypocrites.

The structure of religious worship is build in order to create this very atmosphere of division.

Most people don’t get it, but will understand it sooner or later,
