As many of the people trying to get scholarships on this site, I would imagine that over half of them are taking AP courses this year. Everyone says that the AP courses just look better on the good ol' transcript than say, an honors course. But hey, what do I know? I'm just a student trying to get through life. What I do know however, is that these AP courses will kick your butt if you aren't careful. I am taking AP Statistics and AP English this year. Statistics isn't a real math, all you do is count and divide, its easy. Whoever told you that, LIED. Statistics is turning out to be my most chalenging course I am taking this year. I know its AP, and it is supposed to be hard, but this is pretty crazy. Nevertheless, leave your comments on how AP courses are...or aren't kicking your butt.
I don't know how many of you saw, but this past week a "stundent" at UCLA was tazered when he refused to identify himself. At first, to be honest, I laughed at the sound of this. Not in cruelty, but in the bare randomness of it all. After further investigation and a few youtube clips later I still am not entirely sure if i agree or disagree with what transpired. By the looks of it, the man was tazered multiple times, because he did not identify himself. Which leads me to believe if he was not indeed a student at UCLA, then he would have just showed them his ID. Maybe he had his reasons, share what you think is it right or wrong?
Progress reports are this week WoooooHoooo. I don't know when they are given at other schools, but this week is when Hickory High is giving them out. So good luck whether you get them now or later. Peace

In college I took Stats. Very much not an easy course. It is not 'Difficult" . . . it is just VERY exact and VERY Specific.
the smallest error early on can cause major issues in the final result.
My suggestion is to write everything out on paper, even if you end up with 2 or 3 pages per 'problem' to be worked.
That's how I got through it.
I know what you mean by details. Today I took the Ch. 2 test, and 14 questions took 5 sheets of paper and 2 hours to complete. Thanks for the advice, I know it will come in handy.
In college, my stats final was 10 questions. It took a week to do (we couldn't work together, but it was a 'take home' final exam) and I think I turned in around 12 pages.
That is the definition of hardcore. Props for passing. :-)
Heh. Thanks. I've just restarted college (didn't graduate the first time) to get a BA in mathmatics in order to teach high school math.
Egh. I think the whole AP thing varies. I'm in AP physics and yeah its hard but the teacher is so tight it doesn't seem as hard.
And the man not identifying him self is crazy. Part of me says he shouldn't have to id himself if he wasn't doing anything harmful, but at the same time with everything going on with the terrorism, I can't blame people being extra strict on security means.
And in Az, we had progress reports a week or so ago lol.
I sure wish my Stats teacher would teach more close to the book, he tells us, "READ AND UNDERSTAND" evidently teaching is for the stupid kids. : /
I completely know what you mean, we may just have to wait to figure it all out after some stuff is released publicly.
I'm in AP French and English, and neither is too hard. It's like, we have a lot of time to do the assignments and even if they're a little tedious, it's not so hard if you space it out. I think that's what college is actually like, so I really like the classes. I was in AP US History my sophomore and junior years, though, and I never did my work, and it was so hard. I got pretty bad grades, and then I got a 2 on the AP test. So I'm trying much harder this year.
That is kool, so far my experience differs from teacher to teacher, where my AP Stats teacher makes it hard, my AP English teacher just makes it challenging. Which is what I enjoy, a good challenge. But its not fun going through a course completely not understanding the content, because it isn't taught well. I guess I should format my rant to make it more directed at AP teachers, rather than the courses themselves.
Oh, well, I like both of my teachers but I also like both of the subjects, so I don't really know which it is that makes me like the classes. But I don't know anything about AP stats, maybe it's just a harder subject?
