Public Education: Why Would Anyone Teach?

My name is Alex, and I thought perhaps one should reflect on the sorry state of our public education system.

This is purely my opinion, so if you agree not to agree, no one is making you read this.

Anyway, I was reading about current events, and several things struck me as pretty ridiculous.

Does anyone know what "genius" came up with the No Child's Behind Left laws? (Or whatever it is called.) I don't think it was just our favorite shrub's idea. I have no idea what they were thinking, but I have a feeling they did this intentionally.

I've noticed that there are two big problems with this ridiculous sham:

First, that teachers must wait for the dumbest student in the class, and

Second, that there can be no discipline from the teachers, only that of the politically-cowed principle, or a shrink. The shrink is not going to do much good for a lot of cases, is it?

For example: A gangbanger black with a stolen pistol walks in class and threatens the teacher, the teacher gets jumped, and eventually the student makes it somehow to the counselor, I have no idea how, as drugged up on weed as the guy is. He waves the gun at her, and she says something like, "Aw, you poor baby, look what they did to you, they got their blood on you, how traumatic! how about we talk about this?" And she gets shot. Several times.

It is in the nature of a child to test his or her boundaries, if he or she discovers there is no real consequences to his or her actions, then all hell will break loose.

The educational system needs our help, and I have many ideas as to how to solve this problem:

o Stop this bloody dumb war, and use the funding on schools and infrastructure, where the money would make a difference.
o Permanently and significantly increase the funding for public schools to at least the amount before the school reforms in the 80's.
o Improve the school system to allow for students to go their own pace by having 20-student classes, and the option to move ahead
o Provide enriching classes like vocational, life skills, and valuable languages, like Japanese, Mandarin, and Hindi
o Provide meaningful placement advice, instead of academic counselors that do nothing, and know nothing
o We need to prevent the nuts from inserting more wacko ideas like "no negative reinforcement," "intelligent design," and such into common curricula. If the wing nuts want to teach that propaganda to their children, let them homeschool their victims with ACE or something, instead of forcing it on wiser parent's children.
o Provide better wages, benefits, and training tom teachers, and other incentives for people to become teachers, instead of the status quo, "If you can, do, if you cannot, teach."
o Gain more part-time teachers that are currently active in a relevant field, so that the teacher knows firsthand what the students will encounter.
o Segregate problem students to classrooms with a pair each of campus police officers armed with full riot gear - and pay them for it

These are only a few of my ideas, and I can come up with more.

My reasoning for this should be self-evident, but I will list some of them here anyway.

o A dramatic increase in education will increase general health, prosperity, and longevity, and decrease crime, poverty, poor elections, and other social problems by a great amount.
o Companies can use more students with trade languages such as the three I mentioned, especially Mandarin, since the shrub and his gang look hell bent on war with China, and Hillary or Obama will probably start it as well in a few years (Either will be a one-year president, anyway.)
o Companies that wish to hire low-income people will need people who can do the job, not necessarily educated people. If they do not want a proper education, they can at least be persuaded to be trained in specific vocational skills
o Education for the children will improve the lives of all, for as the children grow up, they have a huge impact on the earlier generation's quality of life, even if they have no children, and do not plan to have any. Educated, smarter and more aware children, are better than uneducated, idiotic and clueless children.
o Provide credit for accredited private schooling and specific laws regarding the allowance of, and reasonable regulation of, homeschooling

Uneducated, or poorly educated children will do much harm to the country overall, and cause increased poverty, crime rates, and drain on social security, and decrease economy, prosperity, safety, and health.

Therefore, it is everyones duty, your duty, as a citizen to help fund public education!

Please give our children, and indeed ourselves a safer, cleaner, more prosperous place to live! Make this happen!
