This year has been one of the craziest election years I've ever seen. That may be because its the first presidential election that I've been able to participate in, but nonetheless, it still seems pretty chaotic.
What bothers me is that the election is not about personal views on issues as much as it is about the other guy's stance. The candidates spend more time attacking each others' campaigns instead of stating their own platform. Personally, I don't want to elect someone for President based on how well they can insult someone. For me, the important thing in this election (and all of them, really) is knowing where each politician stands on the major issues, and also knowing their plan for fixing our country. But these major points get drowned out in the din of our political playground nonsense.
America is at one of the most tumultuous times in its short existence. The world is teetering on the edge of utter turmoil, and what we need is a powerful, effective leader who is ready to make the changes that we need. And I just don't know if any of the candidates are truly ready, because they've never told me. All they've done is spew about how their opponent isn't ready.
For too long we've been watching as America slowly deteriorates from a somewhat respectable nation to an agressive fist of tyranny. Just the fact that places like Guantanamo Bay even exist is an insult to the foundations of this country. We're heading down a pretty nasty path, and this election has to be a political 180. It's time to stop sitting back and taking this gross miscarriage of the American way and take responsibility for what's going on. We each have a vote, and we're just as culpable for the state of affairs as Osama bin Laden. So let's make things right.... and soon.

I agree with you completely! This is going to be the first election I am able to vote in and I am really excited; however, whenever I watch the debates all I see is the candidates bashing one another. Hello!!!! I am sick of this. It is not going to make me want to vote for the person one bit. If one candidate has a different view on a certain policy and wants to offer a different stance than fine, but this is not what I usually see. All that I am able to witness is one person stating nasty facts about another's past without giving any idea as to how they will be different. One thing that really seems to bug me is that we are in a war and no candidate talks enough about how they will protect us in regards to this when they become president. For example, both Hillary and Obama say that they want to get us out of the war, but I have not heard of any clear plans from either one of them as to how they are going to go about doing this. If they want to get us out of the war then fine! But, I am not going to vote for a person simply because they say that. I want to hear how it will be done. And it also upsets me that there are not more people demanding these answers from the candidates.
For sure. It's very frustrating to watch people just kick back and act like everything's fine, when everything is far from it. Why would people choose to remain in the dark? That's always been one of my biggest and most frustrating questions. In fact, it sounds like a blog topic to me......
