As my title suggested, actually, I'm a Chinese girl, studying abroad in the USA, now for about 2 months.
To tell the truth, life here is not as easy as I thought, and I bet most of the international students would have this feeling. Our first language is not English, but for college, for better life in the future, we are forced to study and use English as well as native speakers. Also, we have to take that HORRIBLE SAT tests, in order to make fair contest with US students.
Well. Some times I felt lonely and despair here. For future is not clear, it seems impossible for us, ESL( English as Second Language) speakers, to achieve our dreams, such as get into IVY Leagues. But, "NEVER give up", as June, a senior in our school, an outstanding Korean student told me, made me more confident.
I can still remember that the first day I came to join the Chemistry class. Definitely, I couldn't understand what the teacher said, even though I knew the material. But after 1 week, I realized that I could understand what my teacher said in our class!
Language barrier will not last forever, or, for might long time.
At last, as President Franklin Roosevelt said, " Nothing to fear, but fear itself."
