Tonight on ABC is some “world premiere movie event” dealing with the bird flu, and what would happen should it become transferable between humans. It tells a tail of millions of people dying and of mass graves, admittedly fake.
My question for the execs at ABC is why?
Let's get millions of Americans all vamped up and scared about something that could quiet possibly not be that dangerous. Just avoid messing about with chickens and anything that does and you good right? Probably not but still, why create a movie about something that could, worst case (hopefully) happen to us before its happened! Tell me if this makes sense to anybody? Creating a movie that scares to public (familiar theme I’ll admit). But it was different when G-Dub was scaring us into believing that there really were terrorists in Iraq and that they had weapons of mass destruction (or weather balloon equipment, whichever sounds better), and it also worked by convincing us that we needed a department of homeland security. But what’s the use this time? There’s nothing the public can really do about the bird flu, we cant really come up with some department that will find a cure in the next few months, so why scare the crap out of the citizens by creating a movie depicting mass deaths?
