Did you hear anout the shooting on the Illionois University campus. I did. And again, i'm scared. This is my first year of college. I go to the small school of Southern Wesleyan University. It's a small christian university in Central South Carolina. Yea, I know that you've probably never heard of it. I'm actually glad that I go to a small school. I mean, look at all the College campus shootings. A few years ago, the shooting was all about high school. But right before I graduated, the VT massacre happened. That scared me! I know that threre were campus shootings before this but this was the worst school shooting in US history. It seems like no college, or high school for that matter, is safe anymore. What should we do. Some say that there is nothing that we CAN do. Well I disagree with that. There is something that we can do. We can just simply PRAY about it! Yes, I am aware that some of you are not Christian and i'm not trying to get in the way of your belief. I'm just simply suggesting something that I believe will work! If we, as students, band together and pray, I believe that God will help our country. Not just the campus shootings, but the crime, and everything else, as well! The fact is, it's a very scary thing to behold that someone can walk onto a college capmus and shoot innocent people that are just trying to make a good life and carreer for themselves. Thank you for reading this! This is just a thought!
Death on College Campus' spark more and more FEAR for college students!

You shouldn't be afraid. I've had several deaths on my campus since I've been at college. In fact, a very prominent student at my school died a couple weeks ago in a rollover accident. We've had a couple suicides, a couple homocide-suicides, and a few accidents.
Yes, your school could be the next big school shooting, however, you're more likely to have kids die on your campus from suicide or auto accidents than a mass shooting at your school. If you live in fear, you can't live life to the fullest.

Well, my college is close to Clemson University and they've had like six students die this year. We've had two students die I think. One student was brutally murdered in a robbery of his home over Christmas break. In the past, two of our dorms have burnt to the ground. One of those dorms I am currently living in and the other I will most likely be in next year. I am afraid and I know that you are right. I should not be! What college do you go to? Anyways, thank you for your encouraging words!
I know a bunch of people at Clemson. And USC. And CoC. And I knew someone at Erskine until he moved to Winthrop. And I know people at Wofford. And a handful at Furman. This is what I get for going to high school in South Carolina.
I go to a University of Colorado school. One of the smaller campuses, not the 'biggest party school in the nation' campus (though I don't think Boulder has earned that distinction in a few years).

I'm amazed I ever leave the house with the possibility of death around every corner! But, as I was reminded at a funeral on Monday, the statistics on dying is still 100%, so you may as well make the most of the time you have here on earth! Enjoy school and life and everything else you encounter ;)
I feel safer in my classroom than I feel walking to my car on campus. Just over the month of December and January, there were four armed robberies on my campus at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. I am a commuter student, so I often have late night classes to fit around my schedule and walk to my car alone. I've even considered carrying mace. But surely, I am more afraid of crimes like robbery than a gunman walking in to my classroom.
