marijuana - america's scorned mistress

Hemp.

The Declaration of Independence was drafted on it.
The Constitution was written on it.
The first American flag was made out of it.

Now it's illegal.

This year, I'll be applying to graduate schools with the hopes of studying how hemp and marijuana went from being a staple of the American economy to a demonized and largely misunderstood (and grossly underused) cash crop.  Eventually I'm hoping to add something about the drug culture as it exists in contemporary society.

Stick around for the exciting journey.

Welcome to the site!

I'm liking you more and more by the minute. First you add me to your buddylist after reading my post about Ann Coulter (yes, we administrators have those creepy privileges), and now you're blogging about studying marijuana.

Good luck with that. What do you plan on majoring in? That line of study can include economics, history, biology, sociology, and probably a slew of others I'm neglecting. Unfortunately, drug culture and hemp are two pretty distinct fields from what I have gathered from various sources. The plants used for industrial hemp and the plant used for the mistress are different.
