The majority of Christians in my life live in irrational fear. This, to me, is a sad existence. If you say you've been rescued through the saving power of Jesus etc., well isn't that something to be excited about?
To all the white middle class young people (the majority of my friends essentially): please understand that racism is a far bigger issue today than you can probably even comprehend. Oh yeah, and the term 'inner city' is offensive i have recently learned. What does that even mean anyways, and why is it so derogatory? (thanks for enlightening me, enlightener)
Also, don't say something is in the Bible if it isn't. You wonder why the church gets a rep for lying and twisting the truth? Maybe because we have a bad habit of pulling the old "Well I'm not sure exactly where, but it says in the Bible..." I've done it myself fo sho, but I think it's high time we stop.
Can we talk about the term 'religious'? To be religious is to follow a religion? Well I don't agree with significant parts of what my church supports. So am I not a follower of the religion? To be honest, that's fine with me. I prefer to be known as a follower of my god and savior Jesus Christ rather than a follower of a building and a set of rules anyway. Not that church doesn't play an important role in my life. Some of my best friends are people who I've been united with through my church. It's an opportunity to come together with people who share at least the same foundation in Christ and worship together in fellowship. But if it comes to Christ or the church, there's no comparison. This isn't how it should be though, I think, since the church is supposed to exemplify it's teachings. Unfortunately, mine, like many other places of worship, has fallen into the deadly trap of pretentious routine. We go through the motions with no energy, having lost the passion we had in "our first love" (a reference from Pastor Bill last Sunday, referring to the love we had when Christ was new in our life).
There's an old song that goes....
"The faithfulness of the Lord never ceases
his mercies never come to an end
they are new every morning,
new every morning,
great is thy faithfulness"
It's heartbreaking, because I think we've lost that belief- that God and his love are fresh and new each day.
Sorry for preaching.
Shalom.

I am very surprised to see that someone actually has the same views as I do. I wrote a blog about something similar to this a little while ago. I am sorry to all the people that keep reading my comments and see me repeating myself. There was just one religion to begin with. People decided they didn't like that religion and made new ones and the cycle contuined. I don't put myself in a certain religion because I believe all of them have flaws because of the previous fact I stated before. People fight over religions and it is stupid. People need to just believe who they believe in Jesus, god or who ever and stop fighting over what relgion is right or wrong. it is taking away from the purpose to love Jesus and god (my belief).
