Alright, I was thinking deep and hard today concerning the current scheme of tax refunds and rebates. Although I do agree with the concepts of Reagonomics and the tax plan that we have under the Bush administration, I think that I've conceived a viable way to more effectively utilize tax refunds. It might not be finalized all the way; however, I think it's perfect for getting the public to accelerate the slumping economy. Currently, the U.S. redistributes income tax dollars to those who paid them in the form of check, but one problem with it is - not every dollar redistributed gets spent (the entire goal behind tax rebates). So what could the government alter in the tax-rebating process that would cause more tax rebate money to be spent? Well, the government could use a tax-rebate card. Now don't get all paranoid with identity security or any mumbo jumbo like that. This is my proposal: tax-rebates should be redistributed in the form of a gift card, similar to those Visa gift cards on display at your local store. In this way, none of the gift card has the option of being deposited into a bank account. No gift card can do that! The only way to utilize a gift card is to spend it. So from this refinement, I do believe that the economy would reap the benefits that Reagan intended on in the 80's. More consumption pushes our dire economy, and the only thing you can do with a gift card is consume.
