What Is Really Wrong With Our Youth

One of the scariest growing trends in the world is suicide. Psycologist and pyschiatrists don't know what they are talking about. They tell us we need to boost kid's self-confidence levels by not excluding them or criticizing them. Yet, by doing this, you are only setting them up for failure. This generation thinks they don't have to work to be successful. You do! Back in the good ole days, kids didn't always make the team even when they tried out and trained all year. Sure they were disappointed, but they tried harder next time. It gave them something to work towards. Not to mention the lack of discipline. You want to know why kids today are so misbehaved and misguided. It's because their parents won't lift a finger to reprimand them. If you ask me, I think we should go back to corporal punishment in schools, since parents seem afraid to punish their kids at home. When I was younger, if I misbehaved I got smacked on the behind with a wooden spoon. If I cursed or talked back to my parents, my mouth was washed out with soap. You can believe me, I didn't do anything twice. Liquid soap is nasty enough, that you don't want to do anything to try it again. That punishment taught me self-discipline and strenghtened my self-confidence. In my opinion, suicide is a cop out and comes from the ideals of society ragging on discipline.

I do believe that lack of discipline is a problem with today's children, but then again I don't see how it correlates to suicide. You aren't very clear with your point and it excludes other possibilities. You also have logical fallacies in there; you don't make a logical connection to how lack of discipline leads to suicide and rant about how "things aren't like they used to be".

Did you know that child abuse has gone up? Number of rapes have gone up? There are definately parents who know how to slap their kids on backside, and there are even more now than before that would throw them against walls and beat and sexually assault them. War has increased - so has soldier suicides (I think soldiers are well disciplined as well). There could be other factors in the rising of rate of suicides.

I would think that psychologists and psychiatrists have a better idea of what they are talking about than you, no offense, as they have spent years of study on these things. With only this post as evidence to your knowledge of the topic in detail and spelling of "Psycologist and pyschiatrists ", the information presented here does not seem to be as credible as information that psychologists and psychiatrists would present after going through studies and fact checking.
