Hurrican Ike hit on the 13th since then our power has been out all over in and around houston today is the 23rd thats 10 days already with no electricty or anything its so hard and hot here to and the mosquitos are eating us alive then. Hisd decides to make us go back to school after missing a week of school already and its like tourture because its so hard getting up in the dark to get dressed to go to school then since we have no power i cant wash my clothes or iron them but i didn't feel so bad once i went to school and ppl were all with wrinkled clothes and the teacher asked how many people have power and out of the 37 students in that class only 4 of them had power So i didn't feel like i was the only one struggling anymore. But its horrible and so dark at night and quite well all you hear now is generators running and police sirens since we have been under curfew until further notice from midnight till 6am which isn't so bad since for the first few days our curfew was at 9pm-6am. Who wants to be out all late anyways its way too scary and dangerous since hardly any of the street lights or stop lights work Which makes it confusing because some places they do work and others don't so they are treated as a 4way stop but some people forget and go when another car goes or like me today i stopped at a green light because i got used to them not working. Hopefully the power goes on soon though because i cant take being in the heat and dark any more Houston Galveston and surrounding areas are falling apart and i hear from family and friends from iowa, dallas and san antonio that they hear no news about houston but i don't really understand why because when ever hurricane katrina happend we heard about it on tv and radio and everything for about a month or so but why aren't outside places being informed of us its like as if its a secret but it should really be because we need help there was so much devistation everywhere fallin trees on every block there wasn't 3 houses in a row that didn't have damange of someklnd either flooded or with broken windows or trees that feel on there house and car everywhere i went and omg we had to wait in line for gas for 3 hours it was horrible not even emergency vehicles (cops, fire trucks) had gas they would just pass up everyone waiting in line to get gas and there were 2 different lines one for walk up people with a gas tank for there generator or whatever and another one for the cars then it sucked because so many people had to push them selves through the line because they ran out of gas or else by the time you got to the front the gas station ran out of gas most of my days consisted in waiting in lines because early in the morning i would wait for ice and water at the distribution pod center which took over an hour then i had to go wait for gas in another line for 2-3 hours then they had no gas right before it was my turn so i had to go to another station then by the time i got back home i needed more ice so back in line i go then going to eat or to the store it was bad enough only few stores and restraunts were open there were huge lines and the mcdonalds and whataburger and everything by my house still aren't open so i have to drive out of town just to get food its horrible The stress just piles on.... Then today we started school why couldn't they just wait a few more days 90% of the teachers at school don't have power then another 90% of students don't have power either and it just seems a bit unfair that 48% of schools in our district still aren't in school due to damage or power outage as well shouldn't they just wait and all start at the same time then our superintendent is wanting us to make up the 7 days we missed by either taking away breaks such as thanksgiving or extending school an hour and this isn't neccessary because hurricane ike was considered a national disaster the days we missed were waived and no make up needed but he still thinks that we should which just isn't right we already went though rough times these last few days and it coutinues till further notice. Centerpoint needs to hurry with the power.
