Bottled Water and were spending $9.3 billion on it.

Bottled water is no big deal right? Think again.

The United States spends around $9 billion on bottled water in a year. There are many places that do not have clean water sources for their own people in their country. In America we have plumbing and tap water that is good to drink, yet we spend time and money choosing what kind of water we want to drink. There have been experiments and the majority of people cannot taste the difference between bottled water and tap.

To provide clean water to the world it would cost right around nine billion dollars. Interesting thatamount is what the U.S. spends in a year. The bottled water industry is a $43 billion dollar industry. The fact is if everyone drank one less bottled water and gave that dollar to a water charity or any charity we could help people around the world. The plastic bottles also take up space and create problems at landfills.

I understand there are many things we spend ourr money on that could help solve problems around the world. But this seems to be one of the easiest to fix. Just drink one less bottled water per year. Send that dollar to a charity. Try to not by bottled water for your house if there is tap water available. In forgein countries drink bottled water to keep yourself safe. But at home make one small change and we can change the world.

The water is disgusting-I've seen (and tasted it) with my own two eyes (and one mouth). I think I'll stick to my bottled water, thanks.

But a noble cause.

that # is pretty astounding. 9.3 billion!

I'd be interested in helping out with this, so if you don't find any charities, let me know. A brief search on Google for "water charities" brought up a few good links, though I'm not sure it's what you'd be looking for. And on another, more personal note: I do not like the taste of tap water, and I am one of the few that can actually taste the difference between tap and bottled water. My boyfriend finds it so weird cause he cannot...
Oh, and I usually reuse most of my bottles since I know they just take up space most of the time.

I take for granted that people have safe drinking water. I am lucky to drink tap water from a well. The only reason I use bottled water is for my lunch (practicality). Do you know any names of water charities offhand? This is something I want to look into!!

Save the bottle and refill it. This will save you money, fridge space, and will reduce your ecological footprint.
