Race to the White House

As we are in the midst of primary elections for the race to the White House, I cannot help but notice the tactics that each candidate is taking to gain the party nomination. The question that arises for me is, "how far is too far?" We are seeing and hearing different ad campaigns taking stabs at oponements in one breath and then self praising in the next. I understand that this is part of the process in elections, but it is out right viscous and degrading to see highly educated individuals resort to school yard nastiness. The point of primary campaigns is for the candidate to introduce him/her to the nation along with a platform. There is a time and place for character debates. I do believe that it is important to raise questions on political candidate character and past decisions both politically and personally to a certain extent. We need to see how candidates hold themselves accountable for actions good or bad, not how assets were split in a divorce case, or who someone dated while in high school or college. As I stated, character debates are important, but how far is too far?
