Yanking away the welcome mat.

I really do not understand where these people who think the illegal immigrants have some kind of right to be here, some kind of right to work.  Apparently they don't understand what the world illegal means.  Let me help you with that.

 illegal

  1. Prohibited by law.
  2. Prohibited by official rules

It's not entirely their fault.  The government has gone slack on these laws for the last 30-40 years.  I was talking to someone last week who was complaining about their boyfriend not getting to have his income tax return because he is an illegal.  She seemed to think that he had "every right to be here" based simply on the fact that he worked for the money.  I'm sorry that's not true.  One out of every 10 Mexicans born in Mexico is now in
America.  Does that seem right to you?  What I think needs to be done is yanking out the welcome mat.

The boarder needs to be closed.  It wouldn't be that hard if the government would just do it.  Put a few troops by the boarder.  Put out a message that they have orders to kill anyone crossing the boarder illegally four nights a week, you guess which nights.  Leave the bodies there.  Sure, they'd smell - but it'd get the message across and real fast they'd stop coming here.

Keep "their" money.  About 20 billon dollars a year is sent back to
Mexico from illegal workers here.  They do this because it is impossible for a business to take root in
Mexico because the government is so corrupt.  And then they come here to work.  Closing the boarder would fix this.  It would also lead to a Mexican revolution because they would have to deal with their own corrupt government instead of expecting ours to deal with them.

We don't owe the Mexicans anything.  They are their own nation.  We don't have to take care of them.  That's their government’s job.

Closing the Mexican border might help, but it probably wouldn't be enough. I know that many of the illegal immigrants in the US are Mexican, but they are from other countries as well. What is to stop someone from another country from buying a two-way plane ticket and accidentally "missing" the flight back? Sure, we'd have a record that the person is in the country, but an undocumented worker who is willing to spend the money on plane fare might have the means to have their name changed as well. Illegal immigrants aren't just from Mexico, they're from all over the world.

That may be true, but one out of every ten people born in those countries don't live in ours. Target the big problems before the smaller ones.

I agree about tougher immigration control.

But wouldn't your proposed solution be a little extreme? I'm sure that it'll result in some huge backlash.

Also, a lot of illegal immigrants already know that they're taking a life-or-death risk when crossing the border, especially those that choose to take the long way through the desert.

But then again, your solution would probably be effective in deterring the majority of them. haha
