The same way people become anorexic and bulimic, why do people choose to take diet pills to lose weight? Why not just go to the gym and if you just want to lose more maybe you’re just not meant to lose more. I thought nowadays it was nice to have some curves? I remember when I was younger and I was really skinny it was so hard to find clothes. Why take diet pills or any of these things when they can kill you; it’s not safe. Is it worth your life?
Why all these methods of losing weight?

Because society has made it seem that its good to be thin as hell when it looks disgusting and i know alot of guys who dont like girls THAT skinny. I agree, work for your progress, don't cheat and damange yourself.

People always want what's hard to get, which I don't understand.
People sometimes take diet pills to enhance what they are already doing. You can't always work out work our and diet and lose weight sometimes you have to have help thats where the diet pills come in
Well it's not good if people become addicted to the pills and if they're harmful to your health.
Apparently, our society is so obsessed with weight loss, people would rather be unemployed than have a few extra pounds. http://www.progressiveu.org/141331-most-americans-would-rather-be-jobless-than-fat
That is insane. What is wrong with these people?
I completely agree that the dieting in our country has gotten out of control. I am a 5 ft tall woman and I weigh about 105 lbs. I go to the gym 5 days a week and work my butt off to be healthy. I think that alot of people use diet pills because they think that if they use the pills, they won't have to work out and/or eat healthy. If you really want to loose weight and keep it off, you have to eat healthy 90% of the time and exercise regularly.
People are lazy and always want to do things the lazy way.
because we live in a society where it is "ok" to risk your life as long as you look better than the person sitting next to you.... thats all i get from it i love running and playing sports soo i guess thats just the way it is.... welcome to america
The world is a screwed up place sometimes.
Diet pills are very dangerous, they can make your intestine and heart over work and the caffeine can cause sleep deprivation!
And they can raise blood pressure which can lead to an anurism which is what happened to my aunt.

you're right just go to the gym
Because Americans want an easy way of losing weight. They know that eating healthy and exercising will help them to lose weight, but they want a quicker and easier solution. They want to just pop a pill and look gorgeous. Or they want to buy some infomercial product that will give them great abs if they just put is on their stomachs for 20 min a day. But if they really want to lose weight, they have to do it the traditional way: diet and exercise.
Most people's brains are washed with what we should look like. Some people can tell their kids "It doesn't matter what other people think" while at the same time taking that (now ephedra free) pill every 8 hours just so they look good in a bathing suite. Most diet pills are actually "water pills" that drain most of the water out of your body (98 to 99 percent of our body is water!!) Which is very dangerous as far as dehydration goes... then the organs start to shut themselves down. There are prescription weight loss pills ... umm. yeah have you read the side effects to those... (uncontrolable bowel's and heart attack's) then there is Phenteramine... guess what? that only works for 30 days then your body realizes that your tricking it and sets up a defense to it then people keep wasting their money month after month to get more usually around $50.00 per month..... Our country has a PROBLEM and I believe we're past due for a "logical looks" rehab program.
Wouldn't you agree that your favorite food brings you some kind of happiness? The taste is like no other. When you put it in your mouth, you start floating on Cloud 9 and nothing can bring you down. There's just something about food that can make you feel...complete. Your favorite food does something to you that nothing else can. If I had to give up my favorite food just to lose a few pounds, I think I'd be terribly sad.
I'd rather be plump and happy than skinny and miserable.
I agree too. And if i had to lose weight, I'd hit the gym. It's as easy as that.
I am living proof that even a rational, forward-thinking feminist can fall prey to Western beauty ideals. I spent two years starving myself, taking diet pills and otherwise. Why? I couldn't really tell you, other than the irrational belief that thinness equates with success and the right to be loved.
Thanks for your testimony abbey. And now you know the truth, right? That being thin is not relative to success and being loved...
"Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised."
-Proverbs 31:30
Oh, most definitely. I found out that the more weight I lost, the more miserable I was. I decided to really embrace feminism, to love my body no matter what shape it is. I take care of it now not to make it look good, but so that it serves me well into the future. :-)
