This is my VERY FIRST blog! I feel like I ought to revere the occassion, but instead, I think that I will cut right to the chase (or at least concerning this installment)
I choose to speak of the future. That is, after all, the underlying motive for speaking up about current issues: to change the future. I look forward to experiencing my future, although it is something that I can never attain, as it keeps moving forward (which is what futures tend to do). If I am to enjoy the future, then it is important for me, or anyone else concerned about their future, to stand up for what is right in the world. Now this is a pretty serious statement: stand up for what is right in the world. It also seems pretty broad, and it is. Doing what is right can pertain to nearly every situation; from refusing to do harm to your body, to simply throwing away a gum wrapper. Every little act counts. In order to live a full, purposeful life, one must apply their personal moral standards to all facets of life. If you would be offended if someone dumped their trash on your living room floor, why would you throw your own trash on the street? If the thought of your family member using abusive substances is unsettling, why would you submit your own body to that kind of punishment?
Think to the future: that is where your happiness awaits.
