Yeah, it does. That's old news. Why else would you market bottled water using a naked woman laying in a cloud or advertising clothes with people wearing hardly any clothes at all? Abercrombie anyone? And what did all the bubble-gum pop stars do when they "grew up"? They took off their clothes and added even more suggestive moves to their coregraphy. Then there's all the sexuality in movies, that really isn't always nessecary, and magazines, which goes without saying of course.
Even here on ProgressiveU, you can see signs of it. I haven't bothered to look into it, but I'd bet if you did, you'd that overall some of the blogs that get more reads have something to do with sex.
So, what do you think causes the obsession with sex and sexual images? Is it the media and advertising feeding off of human nature? Or is it a cycle where the media started the interest and made sex "okay" for the public and now feeds off that?
And, last of all, I'm just plain sick of it.

Well, it was more of a vent. The title was going to have the same effect if it was relevant at all anyway.
You want to know why sex sells? In my opinion, it sells because for a long time it has been regarded as something forbidden to talk about or to show. When all these restrictions have (kinda) gone, everybody is happy to be able to say something about sex/do something that has a sexual conotation, in a way or another etc.

I agree with Prayera. The restrictions on sex are kinda gone, but there's still the forbidden aspect of it that makes it appealing. People want more of what they can't have.

That's easy: because sex sells. It's only because thus far sex is kind of thought of as naughty and people like to be naughty. Eventually the novelty will wear out and sex will no longer sell.
Not everything that has the appeal to sex sells. It's just another way to sell. It does not mean when you put a hot blonde in a bikini selling coke mean that the guy will "Oh my... must buy a coke!!" It helps to sell. Another way to get attention.
