Following that tragedy of the Holocaust, the world vowed: "Never again." Yet, once again, a systematic campaign of genocide is claiming the lives of an ever-escalating number of civilians in Darfur. Holocaust survivor and Nobel Peace Prize recipient Elie Wiesel said: "I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented." |
