Hey, remember New Orleans? That city that was hit by massive waves of water, then telethons?
Well, it's still there, and now it is living in a state of limbo. It was Hurricane Katrina and the response to Katrina that made me start blogging in the first place. I was shocked and disgusted that this stuff could go on with the people who were supposed to be protecting us. The response... it was piss poor at best.
And still the response is horrible. When New Orleans has to ask France and Jordan for money...that is bad. When an American city that was nearly destroyed is given only lip service - and barely that - in the State of the Union address... that is bad.
The thing about this government is that it is not good at governing. It is very effective at getting people to believe lies and mistruths (is that even a word?) but at actually doing the day to day work of running a country... they are not very effective. If only this government were geared towards governing instead of being elected...then our country would be in better hands.
Remember, folks, New Orleans still needs your help. Donate to the Red Cross, or find a (reputable) charity that is helping New Orleans - they still need our help. Because the government obviously does not want to help them.

They're trying to change the color of NOLA from black to white and a rich man's playground.
I'm glad they're looking at foreign aid otherwise this beautiful city will become a playground for bush's crownys.
