So, I opened People magazine today and saw Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in it about thier new family or what ever. But what i found fascinating wasn't the the cute kids or brad's beautiful body, it was Brad and Angelina's travel schedule. You might say "Well they're celebrities they're supposed to travel?" but they were traveling to Africa! They travel to poor countries, they put aside the American materialistic values, and show a poor child that someone cares. That's one thing i learned in haiti that these kids are richer is a spiritual and faith since then me. They trusted me they were happy just to sit next to me. I love how Angelina travels the world I hope to be like her one day. I wont be an actress but instead I want to make a difference.
How do you think America should help third world countries?
Should Americans or People in general care to help third world countries?
Would you want to travel to Haiti or Africa to help? (Haiti is beautiful and has great character)

Yay someone shares my love for Angelina!! (check out my post about her) I would love to travel to Africa. I am actually working on going to South Africa to work with kids through a teacher that went there last summer and I'm really excited!
Angelina is gorgeous as well as a (supposed) great citizen.
Well after I finish my graduate as a doctor I was planning to join an organization called MSF this is an organization that provides medical aid to individuals in other countries who do not have doctors or contain inadequate facilities. As much as I love that Angelina is helping others I can't help but think she does this in order to make herself look better. I know she is truley helping those individuals in those countries but doesn't it seem kind of fishy that as soon as people are sterotyping her as "weird" or "gross" she decided to save the world?

I think Angelina is amazing! and what's even more amazing is that although the media does focus on her and Brad, they take the time to acknowledge what she's doing. =)
I believe that Angelina is a great role model for everyone. I love how to helps the people in need not by just sending money but actually going down to Africa and doing it in person.
I watched on Oprah about the atrocities that are being committed to children in South Africa. The children in Uganda especially broke my heart. A lot of these children walk hours each night (they are called night walkers) to get to these cages that the government has put up so they can be locked up at night and know that the rebels will not kidnapp them in the night. And then each morning when they know that it is safe they return to their village. The children who are kidnapped are forced to fight with the rebels, some becoming murders at ages as young as 5. The ones that are not forced to fight are rapped and beaten. One girl that was on the show was used as a human sheild and her face was basically blown to bits. And that is just the begining of the horrible things that are happening to children in Africa.
I think that we should help thrid world countries but their needs to be proof that we are also progressing. Like, I can understand why stars like Ophrah and Angelina are helping those countries because those kids are born without a chance. They have no idea what they can accomplish. In a lot of countries there is a fee to go to elementary and middle school. After middle school the kids are bascially tossed out into the workforce. However, I am a strong believer in helping out your own. there are kids here who likewise do not know what they are capable of.

what about countries where even elementry school isn't free. the family has to pay for books and a school uniform yea tha may not seem like a lot to you but imagine trying to do that while earning 25 cents a day. that is what is going on in haiti right now. I went there in december so many haitian children never set foot inside a school and live their entire lives with out knowing even the most basic skill. you can read about my haiti trip in my blog saying goodbye to baby fadner. personally i dont think its about know their potential yea that is part but not all. so much is given to americans that some don't realize how the other world lives

I believe that it's great that Angelina is doing these wonerful things. Even so there are many people here in the united States who are in just as much need as those in the 3rd World countries. I think we should care about those in the 3rd world countries but not to the point where we forget about the united states. I wouldn't mind traveling to those places to help if i could.
I read many and cool comments, but before engaging into a noble (help) adventure one needs to be aware of some important fact that surround this amazing continent.
Putting foot on this continent will change your life forever depending on the choice you make where to lay foot. All of Africa’s countries are to be considered different in what they will reflect onto your personal life.
For a person that has never travelled to this continent caution is advised since one might wind up to become affected in such way he/she might never be able to adapt to life when returning back home.
One needs to understand that the realities that are part of daily life upon this continent will enlighten you, because the energy that is present at all times will find its way into your system, is not to be felt nor found on any other part of this world! But, some of the realities will hit you in the face making you to question not only who you are but it will make one realise there are no storytellers looking down upon us. One will realise that the only truth around will be yourself and therefore one might suffer in a way that will change him/her into someone different, one can not predict the outcome of this taking place!
Africa is of such amazing beauty not only because of the emotional value it will reflect upon one’s heart! But Africa brings one to feel the force of it’s source, it brings you closer to the meaning of what life is about for the only reason that you will experience and feel it for the first time.
To get the feel of it takes time depending on the ego and arrogance you have taken with you and the circumstances you are being brought under while staying on the continent.
Staying in a 5 star hotel somewhere in Cape town or Nairobi, is cool but will not shaken any of the ego or arrogance you carry within. To spend time in the bush, jungle or savannah and become part of the food chain is a different story that will get your mind to tap the right vibe few people have lived or will ever experience.
Intoxicated is what we are but don’t realise to be when engaging these parts of the world. It takes approximately 2 or 3 months in order to allow nature to do it’s work and show it’s effects on your awareness, the day you are having breakfast realising you have forgotten to put on your watch or asking what day it is like it’s the most normal thing to ask for, are to be considered indications that you are starting to loose track of time and place. It means happiness is lurking around the corner.
Africa is dangerous in many aspects, if you are a person that is easily blinded because of naivety or ignorance you might find yourself not making the day.
One can be eaten by animals, shot by whomever, contaminated by diseases, bitten and be involved in some sort of accident in conditions that have no other result that you will die only because of the circumstances in which these events take place.
Other than that one can be subject of robbery, rape, abduction and other brutal discomforts that are very common and happening as we speak. that can, if you live true them, leave you with severe trauma not ever to be surpassed.
The bottom line is to keep in mind that “YOU” are or represent nothing, and no “ONE” to anyone depending on what or who you might meet along your journey, whether its animals or humans, caution is advised for “ALL”.
Afrika is GREAT!!!!
