Barack Obama, as you know, has been described as the next great hope of the Democratic party. He gave a great, rousing speech at the Democratic National Convention. And now, he has a Grammy award.
Yes, a Grammy. The music awards. The same award show that Sly Stone triumphantly came back in (and walked off before the song was over...ah, got to love Sly) also gave Barrack Obama an award for the best spoken word.
He won for the voice recording of his book, "Dreams From My Father," which took 15 hours to record. Obama beat out George Carlin ("When Will Jesus Bring the Porkchops?"), Garrison Keiller ("The Adventures of Guy Noir"), Sean Penn ("Chronicles--Volume One (Bob Dylan)") and Al Franken ("The Al Franken Show Party Album").
The Clintons also have a couple of Grammy awards on their mantle from the category.
President Clinton teamed with former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and actress Sophia Loren to win one for best spoken-word album in 2003, then won another one the next year for the reading of his autobiography "My Life." Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., won for best spoken word in 1997 for "It Takes a Village."
Is there anything that Obama can't do?

It makes me happy that famous people get screen time for such great people. Some stars do use their power for good, unselfish purposes.
That's true. People like Condom Weezy Rice are a disgrace to their own people. I think Boondocks appropriately used the term "house nigga" in a cartoon.
Get this, Condom Weezy brown Rice, now claims she is a Doctor. Yeah, right.
The true Doctor was Dr. Martin Luther King who gave up a promising medical practice to preach the gospel and fight racism.
I noticed Condom Weezy was nowhere to be seen during Corretta's funeral. If it were not for Dr. King, Weezy would not have ever even had a chance to go to college. Her, as well as "Uncle Tom" Powell, working for Bush is an insult to all colored people.
umm..i don't think anyone's referred to black people as 'colored people' in a long time
Excuse me, I mean people of color.
They refer to themselves as "niggers." Why can't I? Anyone heard Kanye's latest? He was at the Grammys too.
if you don't understand that, I'm not sure you've ever taken a US history course.
