There is this college that I really want to go to, I think I've got a good chance of getting in, there is only one problem I have never been to the campus. The college is in Boston, and I live in Dallas, it is not like I can drive up for the weekend and do a tour. On the other hand, I've seen my second choice, but it is my second choice. What is one to do?
I am sure that many on this site have, or are facing this problem. I would like to take a visit, but where does the time and money come from? What if I go see the college, and then don't get in? I wish I had at least been to Boston before so that I had a feel for the city.
On the other hand I came out of one university tour and thought "There is no way I am gong here," even though I had already been accepted. These tours and visits can make or break a decision that affects the rest of our lives.
I guess I will either have to attend the college on faith that I will like it OR fly to Boston and then hope I am accepted. What would you do?

I would try my best to visit. It is really truly worth it. There is one college that I loved both times I visited, but when I spent the day shadowing a student there I did not like it as much and I really can't see myself going there. It makes a big difference when you actually go to the classes and see the students in action. Also, I would definately wait to visit until after you get accepted. Even if you believe you will get in, until you get that acceptance letter in your hand your view of the school will be different. When you visit a campus knowing you were accepted, you truly view everything with different eyes. Good luck with everything!
Definitely try to visit. Schools look different in reality than they do in the brochures or on the website. You definitely need to get a feel for the city so you can know what is around it, and what kind of transportation is there.
