have you ever seen movies that portray the lives of those living in other countries, like, third world countries. and people are starving to death and dying of disease and illnesses so easily curable that we don't think twice about them. did you know that every three seconds a child dies of starvation. A CHILD. that's not even including adults. also, here in america, every time we pee we are peeing out more nutrients than the majority in a 3rd world country consume in one day. (not to be gross or anything) did you know that it only costs $19.95 (in american currency) to buy clean water for a home in south america. i know someone personally, his name is lewis nirina jess and he lives in madagascar. his father is a teacher there and he makes $30 dollars a year. and he uses this 30 dollars to support his wife and nine children. it costs $100 dollars to fill up my truck once a week. and then there's the $500 a spent for a new surfboard... and another $300 for a wetsuit and boardbag. not to mention the $40,000 academic scholarship i got for college. and yet i still feel like i need more. i still feel broke. when in reality, the only brokenness i have is myself. i say this because i have so much STUFF, and yet so little LIFE because of it. and lewis, and all these other people, have so little STUFF yet so much LIFE. does that make sense? oh well, who cares. just think about it, there are people, children, in other countries that are so starved that they don't have enough strength to fend off vultures that are eating them alive (fact btw). man, and i feel good about the fact that i'm going to new orleans for a week to help out... we are a sad society, a sad culture. when are we gonna wake up. not that there aren't people who haven't woken up... psh, we don't hear about those people because they are actually doing something good. and besides, they probably wouldn't want the attention anyways, they're too humble and selfless. they know what they've got to do and they do it, no questions asked, no pat on the back. they just do it because it is good and fruitful. bravo to those who help, to those who give everything.

Wow this blog is very informative and interesting. i think that everyone can do something to make a difference even if it just helping someone else help. If more people got involved then we would be a much bigger help.
