Countdown to Haiti: the first presentation

And the first meeting has happened!

I’ll just give you a quick overview of how the first church meeting went, and we’ll move on from there.

The first meeting took place before the church board at my local church, Payette Christian. At this point, I gave nothing but a presentation. They didn’t need to pass or table anything; I just put the idea on their minds. Consequently, I’ll be back in a month to present to them the idea with an answer to all of their questions. At that time, hopefully, there will be a motion and something will happen.

Questions and answers were the main point of the presentation. I think that I did a superb job answering the questions I was expected to answer at the moment. Naturally, the members of the board had other questions I need to be asking Mark from Hope, but that’s to be expected. The way I see it is that I can’t know what’s on their mind and what they would like to know until they tell me. Listed below is a list of questions I intend to ask Mark. If you can think of anything else I need to know (or you think you would want to know), please comment it and let me know. I’ll then put it on the list, if I don’t know it.

Please see the list of questions below:

1) Is there interest on the loans? If so, how much? Where does the profit go if there is interest?

2) How can we keep churches updated as to how their money is being used (update on the project)?

3) Does 100% of the money donated by a church go towards the project?

4) Where is the money going to go, exactly? Does Colby keep it, or does it go straight to Hope?

4b) Can there be a bank with address/phone number where money can be sent to?

5) How do the banks that are set up (in Haiti) work?

6) What other help do people in Haiti get besides money? Do they get resource and learning help too?

7) Who can apply for a loan? How does the process work?

8) Is there some kind of internet donation thing we can set up so that money can be donated directly to Countdown to Haiti?
