Did you hear about the Lawyer who gave a cop a ticket because the cop decided to abuse his authority to park at the yellow line to eat lunch? How many people are saying, “Good for the cop! That is what he deserves.” I personally understand that not every cop does the wrong thing, but I am surely tired of them abusing their “power”. Just because they can does not mean they should. Officers of the law are supposed to serve and protect and use their official government vehicles for the use of official business only. Not because he wanted to be close to his car “just in case” he was called. If it was anyone else in this matter the people would have got the ticket and lost the case if they chose to fight it. The law states very clear not to park at a yellow line. Police officers are no different when they are not working. They are not above the law.
Every cop is not like that but it makes the rest of them look bad. It really makes citizens almost hate cops. It is so sad the way people behave. It is also sad how some people retaliate by killing cops.

I've seen cops more than once turn their lights on so they wouldn't have to wait at a red light. I've seen them parking illegally, as well. In the loading dock of the mail center I worked at on my university's campus.
"Oh, hey. Would you guys mind moving your car? The drivers have to park here to deliver packages and mail."
"well, when are they coming?"
"They come throughout the day. It makes it a lot easier for them to unload when they can park in the loading dock."
"Well, we need to park to patrol the campus."
"Well, would you mind parking about 30 feet up that way? The loading dock isn't actually part of the campus."
Sometimes, you just have to let them know you won't deal with shit from anyone, including them, to make them realize they can't just get away with anything.

Exactly. Some people feel sorry for the cop but why should the people that are supposedly upholding the law are able to break them. They are not special.
