I am so sick of the fact that only the most ridiculous posts with the most pointless content are the ones that get read and commented on here. Who gives a shit about Britney Spears? And how is it that all someone has to do is pretty much copy and paste a news article and call it a blog? Just because you know where to find news stories, doesn't mean you are an intelligent person. Goods blogs should present and idea, question, or oppinion, and discuss it.
It also pisses me off that the only thing people seem to care to argue about are moral issues like gay marriage and religion. What good does that do? I mean it's good to get different sides of an oppinion, but none of the problems are going to be solved through narrow-minded arguments. People are gonna believe what they wanna beleive. So why don't you guys form an oppinion on my last two blogs and comment!

I'm hoping that with the end of the contest there will be an improvement in the quality of blogs posted, read, and commented on. A big problem though is that it's fairly impossible to make a responsible blog entry short. To pretend that a huge topic can be represented in a few paragraphs is naive - and the same for comments. If a reader has a genuine comment, genuine feedback, then his or her comment will most likely end up being long as well.
What does this mean though? it takes longer to read, and forms the pressure that the mainstream media has - making soundbyte posts, with emotive, inflammatory comments.
I'm very glad that you value rationally evaluating issues. The lack of that is the biggest problem that I see in almost all of the debates occuring in contemporary society.
hopefully we can reforge some of the progU community in the months between contests.
Why, that's because we're so progressive, of course.
