and you think gas is expensive?

Government subsidies---- one of the worst things to a die-hard environmentalist.

Did you know that without the government subsidies for the environment, a gallon of gas will cost anywhere between $5-$15?  Although that makes you want to jump out the window if it were true, do also consider that one of the main reasons the US is such a big user of energy and of oil is that cheap prices make them more available to consumers.  Now I'm all about some good old fashion consumer-oriented economy, but without giving the public an accurate view of what exactly they are paying for (both for the gas and for the environment), how can we cultivate a well-informed and environmentally-knowledgeable society?

So go save some gas.  Not only because you are a poor student about to be in college (hear hear), but also because you are a concerned citizen who wants the Earth to exisit for quite a while longer.

I agree with you completly!

Yes indeed. Can you imagine if the subsidies were taken away and moved to alternative distributed photovoltaic power. It's clear those with a stake in coal sure can...

what i want to know is why all this money from the govnt is going into subsidies when the defiecit is so high. people are spoiled now
