Warning: the following is a rather distastefully opinioned rant. If you find yourself easily emotionally wounded, hypersensitive, or are generally regarded as immature or stupid, do not read this. (Obviously, everyone who fits into this category is going to read this, get offended, and post angry comments. Oh well.)
Lately, I've seen that there has been a huge influx of rampant stupidity ProgressiveU. Not just that, but this is also a double topic of not only what's stupid on ProgressiveU, but why certain groups have so much prejudice hanging on them.
There now seems to be a good amount of incredibly loud, but ultimately pointless and insignificant bloggers. Did it ever occur to you that you just might be the reason teenagers are looked down upon? That you just might be the reason Christianity is regarded with such disdain? That you just might be the reason that people despise you and everybody around you?
I used to not be able to understand how Christianity got so much flak from everybody. I mean, sure, I've heard about the bible-thumpers, and the stupid Christians, but come on, they couldn't be that bad, right? Oh boy, how wrong was I. As I see on ProgressiveU, there is a flood of extremely uneducated Christians (and most likely extremely young and naive ones) who can't really do anything but preach the holy word of God and the Bible. They lack common sense, and are so completely skewed--and what pisses me off most is how they preach about God. If you're going to talk about God in a personal blog, that's fine--I respect your right to do so. If you're going to talk to me about God, don't complain when you're shot down by the many people who in fact, SURPRISE, don't share your religion. Especially if you try to preach it. And finally, don't, don't, don't, do not talk about God as if He/She/It is a given in comments on my blog posts, unless you know I'm a Christian. Do not say you will pray for me. I appreciate the sentiment, but it's an insult, not something comforting.
By the way: I'm not a Christian. But you probably guessed that.
Of course, that's not to say all Christians are stupid. No, I'm sure there are many sensible Christians out there. In fact, I think I actually know one. Or two... maybe three. Don't get me wrong. I acknowledge your right to be Christian. In fact, I love that you choose to be Christian (but you might have just been raised under a Christian roof and have no ideas of your own). It's your choice! But don't impose yourself on me. Don't say I'm going to go to hell. I feel like murdering puppies when you say that. Puppies that look like you. (Now you can say I'm going to hell.) You just might be, in fact, the reason Christianity gets so much flak!
Now, this links into my next point: young, stupid teenagers.
I'm willing to guess that most of the Christians that I despise on ProgressiveU are young and ignorant.
I'm 16 years old--and you're not helping my generation have a good image. In fact, it terrifies me that this generation is going to be leading the USA (assuming we live that long). You wonder, "why won't anybody listen to my opinions?! my opinions are important!" Actually, no, your opinions are not important. If you are so flared up by your own opinions that you cannot control your own emotions or present a remotely logical argument, you probably don't know anything, and your opinions are not important. Sorry.
You're probably naive, uneducated, and really don't know anything. I only talk about things I know--I don't know anything about politics, and I don't care about politics, so I don't talk about anything complicated in it, if at all. I see rambling posts which talk about what they think is right, what they think is a good solution. Unfortunately, more often than not (read: 94% of the time) you're just regurgitating assumptions and quick conclusions you've jumped to based on what little information you've acquired. Did you actually research the issue? Did you actually think about it? Or are you just spouting self-important, fluffy vomit that everybody has heard and nobody cares about?
You're naive, you're uninformed, and you're misguided. If you expect anyone to take you seriously (aside from the people on your level who leave comments like "wow, I totally agree w/ u", "good pointz"), you actually need to present a serious discussion. You're not giving me or any other teenager a good image--and yet you wonder why we have to prove ourselves, time and time again. Why won't we accept you? Why won't we listen to you? Because you don't know anything. That's why we won't listen to you.
Disclaimer: It's not Christianity's fault. I only attack it (or rather, its ignorant believers) because it is the most common and rampant on ProgressiveU than any other. I assure you, that if they attached themselves to any other religion or belief system, the results would be just as grotesque
This is Scyze, flaring my nostrils because this has to be said before it's deleted because it offended too many people.
P.S. (as follows from a comment I posted): "...This is actually geared to every offense of that sort, from any
belief system, subject, or medium; it's just that the two I covered
seem to be the most obvious on ProgressiveU." This also includes your empty introductory posts.

I hope this post stays up because, while I am a new user, I joined for good dicussion and am finding alot of hot button/ religious garbage spued by extreamists without ears. They give youth a bad name and me a hard time. I am Christian, encourage you to blow as many holes in my theology as you can, and will join you in killing puppies anytime someone says "I will pray for you". And can I add just one bit of advice? Save this rant, and if it gets deleted, rewrite it so that they won't take it off because this needs to be read by everyone!
Contrary to popular belief, we don't delete for the hell of it. Actually, the only time we delete is if it's a multiple post or one of our own. We will ask you to edit if the need arises because you've violated the ToS or another site policy and we will give you 48+ hours to do so. Then and only then (if you don't edit as requested) will your post be deleted. Follow the simple rules and we leave you alone. Chasing down misbehaving bloggers is no fun.

I'd say something along the lines of "I fucking WANT you" but that seems a little juvenile and shallow.
But extreme/passionate agreement nonetheless.
I'm going to stop there while my main thoughts have been articulated because I'm going to get redundant.
I highly doubt this will get deleted seeing that, it doesn't violate any or Progressive Us outlines.
We don't delete blogs just because they offend people. You'd have to say some pretty out there stuff for you to get TOSed. This is pretty tame...

I don't think that this should be deleted. It is your opinion, and in my opinion a good one, and if the people you have offended are entitled to their opinion then you most certainly are entitled to yours.
I am a Christian by deffinition but I am sure many other Christians would openly reject me, because of my personal interpretations of my religion. I too think that many Christian have no idea what their own religion is all about.
"Good pointz!"
...But really, a good argument. Extremists of any and every stripe scare me, not just the Christian ones.
However, I offer you this point: sometimes you need to consider your "gut feelings" in making a decision. This is not to say that logic should be ignored, but that there are times, especially when the decision to be made is a "moral" or "ethical", that one's own gut reactions and feelings should also be considered. But NOT at the expense of logic.
In conclusion, you make several good points. Now read my blog and show me comment-love. You can also help me make my entries better by pointing out and/or correcting any fallacies in my logic you may notice.
I do not throw my religion down other people’s throats, because I know that they will not change their beliefs solely on what I say. But most of you people who do not believe in God or being hypocrites. Just as you all are tired of hearing preachy blogs about Christianity and having Christian beliefs shoved in your faces, we are tired of hearing about how “stupid” Christianity is. Don’t bash Christians for preaching about their own religion if you are constantly preaching about how religion is stupid. I know that I have no real way of proving to you that my beliefs are right but at the same time you have no way of truly proving that I am wrong. This is precisely the reason why I do not pressure others to believe what I do. I choose not to write blogs about my religion because I respect and expect the fact that not every is a Christian. If others choose to right blogs about it, then they should be able to without being criticized for it. I do not respect calling us uneducated or stupid, because quite frankly that is ignorant.
I, as well as it looks like many others who commented, am a Christian and I completely agree with you.
However, could we expand this to have it include stupid posts that have absolutely no bearing whatsoever on anything? Posts that would be common on MySpace, FaceBook, or Blogger?
I know I personally came here to avoid those types of things.
And I would like to say that I accept criticism for what I post. If there is something that you do not agree with/understand in one of my posts then let me know so I could try explaining it.
I'm fairly open-minded.
Keep posting Scyze, you have a bit of wisdom for your age.

Yes, this is actually geared to every offense of that sort, from any belief system, subject, or medium; it's just that the two I covered seem to be the most obvious on ProgressiveU. I'll add a little note on that, though.

How can you think that one of these bloggers' communities are bad, even though you might have not visited them? Also just because of what a blogger writes, doesn't make their community a bad community.
It's not a question of thinking a blogger's community is bad, it is simply the image that he gives his community.
It's kind of like an ambassador for a country. You never see the entire country, just the ambassador, and you are want to stake your opinion of the entire country on the actions of that one person who represents an entire country.
We need better ambassadors if we are to fix the image of ANY of our "countries".

Eh, it happens. It's the internet, what can you do, right? But then again, I'm new to this whole thing so maybe that's why I'm so unfazed, I don't know.
Great blog. 16. Jeez.

but i actually thougth some of it was funny
and u totally have a point
i dont like having to prove i am smart to adults just because some people from my generation are a bunch of idiots
o well
there isnt much to be done about it any way.
I really hope this stays up, also. I think it should be on the navigational bar to the right towards new users.
But opinions are important in the sense that they make people feel like they're getting somewhere mentally. It feels good to (as we can see) rant and rave, talk about things we wish we knew about, and form opinions about things that hit us where it hurts or moves us. So even though opinions may not get us anywhere politically or as far as other people's graces are concerned, it's a good way to learn how to be sure of ourselves.
But there's also a difference between having an opinion and posting it to get it out and trying to post an opinion to brainwash everyone else.
.
Congratulations! You actually got people to think ... with our generation, that is becoming an incredibly hard task.
Good job & great blog!
Can I persuade you to expand your vendetta to those who post introductory blogs? It's the text that makes me punch infants.
By the by, I adore your venom. You must lend me some sometime.

(if you're not outraged, you're not paying attention)
I'll add that in the little addendum thing.
Also, hey, I'll lend you some of my venom, sure. In fact, take all of it, why don't you? Interestingly, humans are the only(?) creatures who are harmed by their own venom.
