So, I just finished up my short paper on a little survey we did.. thought I would share, I'm sure it will spark some conversation.
A few friends and I did a poll of our classmates. We randomly poled 1000 students, 500 male and 500 female of a variety of races and ages(18-34)... as our campus offers a ton of variety. We asked:
If you see a girl sitting in the seat in front of you with her thong (underwear) hanging out, what do you think?
297 Guys- If she is hot then it is okay, but if she is not.. then bad!
109 Guys- Trashy whether she is hot or not!
56 Guys- I'm in a relationship/married.. I could care less!
38 Guys- I probably wouldn't notice!
399 Girls- Trashy, but I wouldn't say anything!
75 Girls- Who Cares!
16 Girls- That's hot if she is cute!
10 Girls- I would tell her to cover up, completely trashy!
I will leave this an open-ended debate! What do you think?! Are we past the "thong" loving stage?! I am actually curious of what of guys have to say about this.

I feel that showing ones under garments (or lack thereof) is completely trashy, no matter what their appearance is.
I think that the way they make pants these days, its hard to find a pair that dont fall all the way down when you're sitting.
i will tell my friends if their thongs are hanging out, but if i dont know them i just pray that they pull up their pants.
and for the guy part of the survey... that disgusts me.

This is what I think: Men look at women. Women look at themselves in the eyes of men. Women really don't care too too much about what other women think (or maybe what they think themselves) because we are growing up in a culture where we care about what men think about our appearances. Look at the amount of guys that said "that's hot if she's cute" as opposed to women. It's much higher, and I really think that we tend to care about what other men think as opposed to what others think in general, and I also think that our own thinking about what we were gets mixed up because we start to think that we look cute by doing this just because guys think it's cute.
I am not one of these girls. I wear thongs (along with other types of underwear, depending on mood), but I try not to show my underwear. I would actually hope that someone would tell me (politely and non aggressively) if my thong was sticking out, because it would certainly be an accident, but it's really sad that some people wear their underwear out like that on purpose because we all know who they are trying to impress or whose attention they are trying to get.

I come from a conservative home, I've never even tried on a thong.. I really don't care if they are worn but to advertise your underwear or lack there of.. just makes me wonder, what else might be done for some undeserved attention?! I probably wouldn't say anything to her but I def. wouldn't be thinking highly of her...
my town actually fines people whose underwear s showing, it falls under the indecent exposure law.
i personally think girls these days have little to no self respect.
they want guys attention from men, yet when they get it they get pissed because it is unwanted attention, yet they take no regaurdi in the fact that they look like streetwalkers.
The past is the past, you can not change it. So don't dwell in your mistakes, Pick up the pieces, and instead learn from your downfall.
I honestly don't see this much anymore - I see girls wearing low pants with NO underwear. Anyone want a quarter for that slot?
Anyway, I think it is completely disgusting to show off your butt crack, with or without underwear on. I would be embarrassed to be seen like that.
