It's all over except the crying

The Democratic Presidential nomination race: it's all over except the crying, or so says the Associate Press.

In an AP article posted quite prominently on the Drudge Report, the news reporting wire agency states, "Barack Obama effectively clinched the Democratic presidential nomination Tuesday, based on an Associated Press tally of convention delegates, becoming the first black candidate ever to lead his party into a fall campaign for the White House. " So it really is over, for the most part.

For the most part? Well, there are still two primaries today. And there are still more than 100 super delegates who have to cast their votes. Don't forget, the convention is still months away. It's doubtful that Hill will take it that far, though. The most prominent Democrat and super delegate, President Carter, will endorse Obama tonight, says CNN. It's winding down, and even my father, a die hard Clinton supporter, admits that she will not be the Democratic nominee.

Now what? Well, apparently Hill still wants in on the "veepstakes." But Obama has already explicitly said "no" to that proposal. Besides, Obama's campaign was based on change and fighting the corruption and power of political insiders in Washington. Putting Hillary Clinton on his ticket would be blatantly hypocritical; everyone would see it as an inside deal, the type of politics which Obama has preached against for the past year.

Now, the Democrats might unite around their sloganeering, demagogic nominee and catch up with McCain in the race for November.

It's all over except for the crying. Or, maybe you could say, “It ain't over 'till the fat lady sings.” We'll see what approach Clinton takes in the next week.

I'm pretty sad that Hilary Clinton won't be the nominee, but I've had quite a while to come to terms with that fact. Not to say that I won't support Obama, because I will. I hope to God that Obama wins this election.
